2677 hits? I don't believe it, surely Hugo Chavez has put out more hits than that.

Two drums and a cymbal fall down a cliff...

Also, because I had to look it up: Luis Aparacio, 2,677.

"When I look back at my career and look at the Texas Rangers uniform, it’s going to mean a lot to me that I got the record with Texas," he said. "This is the team that gave me a chance to do that."

"It would've meant more if it were Boston, but... whatever."

Manager Ron Washington has said all along that he wants Vizquel to break the mark at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

Even though he has been with the Rangers only two months, Vizquel said the Rangers will always hold a fond spot in his memory. Without them, he might not have been given a chance at history.

"When I look back at my career and look at the Texas Rangers uniform, it’s going to mean a lot to me that I got the record with Texas," he said. "This is the team that gave me a chance to do that."

The all-time leader in hits for countries that no longer exist: Jack Quinn (Austria-Hungary) with 248. Unless we're counting West Germany as its own country, then it's Glenn Hubbard.

Sorry, not even close, kthejoker. Elmer Valo was born in what was then Czechoslovakia in 1921, and had 1,420 ML hits.
