Vote For Manny 2009

The purpose of this blog is to get Manny Ramirez elected as a STARTER to the 2009 All Star Game in St. Louis?
WHY?

To highlight the silliness that are the MLB rules towards PED users as well as their “head in the sand” approach to this situation. Rather than confront it head-on, MLB is choosing to do nothing and simply hope there are three higher vote getters in the NL OF.

The writer doesn't actually come out and say it. But I'm guessing he believes Manny shouldn't be eligible for the All-Star team due to his steroid suspension, but since he is eligible, let's vote him in to embarass MLB. Or something.

This is funny. The results showing Manny in fourth place are released today and then this joker gets a blogspot account and proclaims himself, "The force behind getting Manny elected to the 2009 All Star Game despite a 50 game suspension for PEDs."

I don't think these pleas for votes actually work. If we couldn't get 8 Expos voted to the All Star game a few years back I don't think an organized get-out-the-vote can work. I probably voted 200 times for Expos that year.

Except I think the idea of this plan is to send a big fat middle finger to MLB for not taking steroids seriously enough. That's the problem with such message votes. Sometimes, the wrong one is received.

I second that. If Manny was voted the starting LF, Plaschke's head would implode.

I agree with with SoSH though, the message will be misunderstood.
