The writer doesn't actually come out and say it. But I'm guessing he believes Manny shouldn't be eligible for the All-Star team due to his steroid suspension, but since he is eligible, let's vote him in to embarass MLB. Or something.
Someone needs some grammar-enhancing drugs.
Except I think the idea of this plan is to send a big fat middle finger to MLB for not taking steroids seriously enough. That's the problem with such message votes. Sometimes, the wrong one is received.
Which, you would think, would provide evidence that steroids are making a mockery of football records..
Brett Farve already made a mockery of the sacks record in the NFL and he didn't need steroids to do it.
I second that. If Manny was voted the starting LF, Plaschke's head would implode.
I agree with with SoSH though, the message will be misunderstood.
