WATCH IT: Joey Gallo Takes Batting Practice - BaseballAmerica.com

Yesterday was Joey Gallo Day!

Rangers third baseman Joey Gallo has 31 home runs this season, more than anyone in the minors or majors. If we’re being realistic, his power is well past 80 on the 20-80 scouting scale. And on Sunday at during batting practice at the Futures Game, he showed off in a major way. He hit 13 balls out during the session, most of the soaring, majestic, sky-scraping variety. Here’s two rounds of his batting practice. Sit back, relax and enjoy.

20 year-old third baseman in the Rangers system who's hitting .307/.434/.703 through 85 games in high-A and AA this year.

Finally glad to see that he's something more than a stat-line!

That swing reminds me of Strawberry.

That's a good call. Gallo's about the same height as Strawberry with a roughly analogous body type (tall, broad shouldered, long limbs) and seems to generate a lot of his power through his hips and body rotation, just like Strawberry did.

I understand your confusion. That's really Joey Callo, with a C.

[At least, that's what comes into my mind every time I see his name)

Was he more impressive than Bryant?

322/404/701 at AAA after 355/458/702 at AA. His horrible slump continues though as he now has nearly as many singles as XBH in AAA.

(Gallo is two years younger I know, not equating them as prospects.)
