That's Sir Sidney Ponson.

In keeping with my Indian Hills trivia: Simmons and Oduber attended Western Oklahoma State, a power in the hinterlands that is division 2 at the JC level. Like Indian Hills, their success has come in large part from recruiting outside their footprint - besides their pipeline to Curacao, they've picked up several guys from urban city centers (remember Danny Almonte of LL fame/infamy? he was a star there - also Juan Perez, the Dominican by way of NY outfield prospect in the Giants org, he spent a few years out of school as a plumber before going to WOSC). Monster hitting environment.

In international baseball news, this fellow is going through all the foreign leagues (starting with Europe) and adding teams, logos, and uniforms for the new OOTP. Unfortunately due to a re-arrangement of the AA and AAA levels this year his information is about to be out of date for the UK, but it loos like a fun project.

Greg (U)K - great link there. Gotta love the unease the author has with the 'Brown Boys' but no mention about Indians. Someone should wear a 'Brown Boys' shirt to a Cleveland Indians game and see what reaction they get.

3rd Division Belgian baseball clearly has some characters. Not only the "Brown Boys" (the fellow in the logo looks like he's just had a stroke), but the Braine Black-Rickers, which appear to be some kind of demon?, the "La Louviere Snarling Wolves", whose Wolf is looking pretty friendly in the logo, and the "Oudenaarde Frogs", who have what must be the most gentlemanly frog in Europe on their logo.

They got trounced after their promotion to AAA last season. It is a pretty awesome name for a team...but I'm enjoying nursing a grudge against them.

Why do teams in foreign countries where English is not the native language, have logos with words in English?

have logos with words in English?

I'd say they have names written in the Roman alphabet. Dominicana and Nederland are not English. But for the Asian teams, yeah...

English es la lingua franca.
