i gave sheffield a pass in milwaukee because he was very young and immature

goofy looking person
or
goofiest looking person?
Really any defensive play where you need multiple players involved (DPs, relays too) are a bit less automatic than they are in regular season baseball.
Nothing says clueless like a guy who has no idea how well Glen Perkins has pitched the past two seasons.
Four of the five batters up were lefties and he's held them to a 192/236/253 and 222/300/289 line the past two years since moving full-time to the bullpen. SSS bit him there, but Perkins has been very good.
I didn't realize how good he had become, but the comment wasn't really meant as an insult. He's better than Heath Bell or Tim Collins who somehow made the team. I just think the bullpen overall is incredibly underwhelming.
It's over.
The failure of the offense is pathetic.
Then, to rub it in, MLB Network shows a series of commercials with Mike Trout, Bryce Harper, David Price, etc.
Fair enough. I didn't mean to get so snarky on you.
Worst case scenario you'll be facing John Axford trying to hold a one-run lead.
And I doubt it gets to that point.
oh Jesus, #### you Torre you piece of ####...
"and now the us only has 5 outs left"
Maybe we shouldn't have wasted that 6th trying to bunt if outs are so precious.
It's going to be funny reading all these posts after the US has won the tournament.
I think there's a very decent chance that Hosmer ends up being better than Doucheira as early as this year.
Plus, outside of Prince Fielder, who else were you going to send as a replacement once Doucheira got hurt? Swisher? Konerko? Allen Craig? Are those names really that much more intimidating?
Also, I'm disappointed in Sean - putting "replacement level" in B-Ref doesn't find you any specific player.
Curious to know what Texiera has ever done that's "douchey".
The 2016 Qualifying tournament, you mean?
OK, looks like we got this one after all, disaster averted. Now can we please have the real American players in the next round? You know, actual major league pitchers and guys who can hit the ball once in a while?
You don't really think we have a chance in hell against the Dominicans and Cubans and Japanese with these doofuses, do you?
In fairness I think the guys that are there DO care. The guys on my personal shitlist are the guys like Trout who couldn't be bothered. I was irrationally pissed last night seeing him sitting there watching. I can understand the pitchers not showing but I really don't see a good reason for position players not to be there.
To be fair, this team probably wins at a .600 clip against those teams. What you really want is WORLD DOMINATION.
Eh, his face is very douchey first of all. Then there's the fact that he manages to own the Twins (game 2 '09, game 1 '10) despite rapidly losing all of his skills against everyone else qualifies him in my mind.
Hosmer's career OPS+ is 100. None of those guys are superstars, but they're all much better.
Yes. Easily.
Thank god I'm in a bar without commentary. All I have to listen to is the old guy next to me slurping the hot sauce from his chicken wings off his fingers .
I am a Sox fan so I am biased but I'd definitely take Konerko (currently hitting .409/.435/.955 this spring) over Hosmer. OPS+ of 128, 140, & 161 over the past 3 seasons.
Maybe he declined the invite though, I'm not sure.
I said this last night, but try switching to the Intl feed with Rick Sutcliffe. He defines the floor.
You're dreaming. This team has a classic case of "can't get out of their own way"-itis. Utterly clueless.
Sure, if they played like they actually cared, like they're actually capable of playing, they can win. But they haven't, and it ain't likely they will now. They're all worried about chipping a nail and endangering their bazillion-dollar contracts.
Either take this seriously, or don't bother.
You mean the same Japanese team that had a hard time beating Brazil and was 1 strike away from losing to Chinese Taipei?
That was the international feed. Steiner was the one who said it. Sutcliffe is beyond the floor. Sutcliffe is below the foundation. Sutcliffe is unspeakably awful. Any broadcast with Rick Sutcliffe is automatically worse than the Buck & McCarver team or Hawk, or any other broadcasting team in baseball. He is unspeakably smug and almost always wrong. He's the anti-Scully.
To face Pete Orr and Cale Iorg? That's just mean.
Really? I think he's the dullest person alive, but... this is the insult you come up with?
During a broadcast yesterday they were saying that Maddux would play in the WBC if he was asked and he could get in game shape. I would have loved to see that.
Never mind what comes out of Sutcliffe's mouth; the mere sound of his voice makes the average listener cry out in pain.
It's David Hernandez, the Diamondbacks reliever.
