1. USA (Where I live)
2. Netherlands (honkbal)
3. Puerto Rico (That country's baseball culture needs a boost, and they are sort-of America)
4. Taipei (similar to Puerto Rico, they need a boost)
Think Italy might in trouble in case of a 3 way 2-1 tie.
Maddux for Manager!
"Who's playing for the USA? Prince Fielder?"
"Um, no."
"That kid in Washington you're always talking about?"
"Bryce Harper, and no."
"That other kid out in California? Trout something?"
"Mike Trout. No."
"Then why are they bothering if they can't get any good players?"
"They have good players, like Jimmy Rollins."
"Isn't he, like, old...?"
"Sigh."
Is that what we're calling double plays now?
I get back from being at a wake and this is what I see from the USA? Ugh.
Should be interesting watching the USA have to qualify for 2017.
Nah, MLB will either change the rules or put them in a qualifying pool with Monaco, San Marino and Grenada.
This.
If it comes even close to as well-used as "Cornflake", which I also believe I had a role in dubbing, I'll be happy.
Is there anyone in the US that's a real baseball fan that would rather see the US win the WBC than the team they root for win the World Series?
I understand that they wanted JP to catch Dickey, but other than that shouldn't Mauer and (I suppose) Zobrist start over both of them? Or is Mauer not being allowed to catch?
Go Canada tomorrow.
If Mexico wins, then the US has to win their last 2 games for a 3-way tie at 2-1. Mexico would definitely advance. The US would advance if they beat Italy by 3 runs. Italy advances if the US wins by 1. If the US wins by 2, I think that they're tied and the US wins the tiebreaker by having the head-to-head win, but I'm not 100% sure.
Has there been a more consistently disappointing team in WBC play than Canada? I think their first game in 2006 when they beat the US is their only win.
it is being reported locally that there were soemthing like 50 cases of emergency reported last night of folks fainting or suffering heart attack watching the Taiwan vs Japan game in Taiwan ...
here we go, do or die vs Cuba, I think our chances of winning is like 10%, but please prove me wrong.
E1, but that was all on the 2b being late to the cover ...
Too bad, 1 more strike yesterday and this would have been a very different group.
EDIT: Mercy rule is only in first two rounds.
Though this should hopefully rekindle interest in the CPBL again, also it is being reported that Manny will fly into Taiwan next week and sign.
