I know there's not really a chatter at all for WBC games, but these games have been great. Spring training games are awful, yet people watch those — but they won't watch Team USA in this? People be crazy.

If Team USA wins tonight, I'm going to the Final tomorrow.

Oh dear God. Bottom of the 3rd, 4th replay review.

Japan can play some serious defense.

How about that ... raining in LA.
   5. Baldrick Posted: March 21, 2017 at 10:33 PM (#5420961)
These horns are the worst thing in the entire world. If I wasn't already rooting for the US, I would still be rooting for Japan to never win another game ever again.

They're no SA WC vuvuzelas ...

They're no SA WC vuvuzelas ...

I could tune out the vuvuzelas relatively easily. This, I've just completely given up and am watching the game on mute.

Just as I was texting a friend about how good the pitching has been tonight.

I was waving my Hiroshima Carp towel, and Kikuchi homered, so I'll take full credit for that. :-)

I think he just called the catcher "Parker Posey."
   11. Los Angeles El Hombre de Anaheim Posted: March 21, 2017 at 11:30 PM (#5420992)
I would watch Parker Posey play ball, if you know what I mean.

Everyone knows what I mean.

You should go, even if Japan wins.

I've seen 3 WBC games, two semi finals and a final and seen Japan each time (twice against South Korea and once against the US).

Just a great, great experience, which I highly recommend; the fans are just fantastic, they never stop making noise organically, they sure as #### don't need any bullshit "everybody make some noise" prompting to be into their team ...
   13. Los Angeles El Hombre de Anaheim Posted: March 21, 2017 at 11:40 PM (#5420997)

But what if I'm a virulent racist?

Kinsler!
   14. Los Angeles El Hombre de Anaheim Posted: March 21, 2017 at 11:42 PM (#5420998)
Matsuda had been so great at third base. That bobble could cost them the game.
   15. Jose is El Absurd Pollo Posted: March 21, 2017 at 11:43 PM (#5420999)
Not as dramatic as some of his other events this week but it'll do.

Wait! That was you sitting behind me at the USA vs Japan semi-final game in 2009???

You #######, it took me 6 annoying innings to get you thrown out!
   17. Jose is El Absurd Pollo Posted: March 21, 2017 at 11:44 PM (#5421001)
Japanese defense has let them down.
   18. He who brought the butter dish to Balshazar (CoB) Posted: March 21, 2017 at 11:50 PM (#5421004)
Uh oh, not a good beginning for Dancin' Melancon ...
   19. Jose is El Absurd Pollo Posted: March 21, 2017 at 11:54 PM (#5421006)
Has Melancon thrown a pitch below the belt yet?
   20. He who brought the butter dish to Balshazar (CoB) Posted: March 21, 2017 at 11:54 PM (#5421007)
Lousy pitch, good result.

1 more needed.
   21. He who brought the butter dish to Balshazar (CoB) Posted: March 21, 2017 at 11:55 PM (#5421008)
Be helpful if he threw one below the shoulders ...
   22. Jose is El Absurd Pollo Posted: March 21, 2017 at 11:58 PM (#5421010)
Neshek instead of McGee?
   23. Jose is El Absurd Pollo Posted: March 22, 2017 at 12:01 AM (#5421011)
Like I said, gotta go to Neshekthere!
   24. He who brought the butter dish to Balshazar (CoB) Posted: March 22, 2017 at 12:02 AM (#5421012)
Wow, thought that was gone off the bat ... cold and damp is a helpful thing ...
   25. Baldrick Posted: March 22, 2017 at 12:02 AM (#5421014)
Wow, thought that was gone off the bat ... cold and damp is a helpful thing ...

Had the same thought.

I also wondered if watching without sound gave me the wrong impression. Did it sound good off the bat?
   26. Jose is El Absurd Pollo Posted: March 22, 2017 at 12:04 AM (#5421015)
Wouldn't hate some insurance here.

C'mon Luke, one more kid.
   29. Jose is El Absurd Pollo Posted: March 22, 2017 at 12:22 AM (#5421020)
Yeah!
   30. Jose is El Absurd Pollo Posted: March 22, 2017 at 12:24 AM (#5421022)
I wanna echo the first post in this thread. The WBC has flaws but this is always a fun tournament.
   31. Ardo Posted: March 22, 2017 at 01:28 AM (#5421046)
Both semifinals were fantastic baseball games.
   32. vortex of dissipation Posted: March 22, 2017 at 01:41 AM (#5421049)
Both semifinals were fantastic baseball games.

I agree with that - in spite of the fact that in both games, the team I was rooting for lost...
