BTW, do you Canadians have it on TV?

Yes, it'll be live on Sportsnet One in half an hour.

I can't wait to see what the production values are like.

Canada is sending Shawn Hill to the mound, apparently, while GB is sending Chris Reed.

Is there any kind of AtBat app to follow this or is Worldbaseballclassic.com my only option?
   5. Gamingboy Posted: September 20, 2012 at 12:54 PM (#4241133)
Pretty sure online is the only option. Which is a bummer. Just watch though when MLB releases a WBC At-Bat App for the tournament proper and charges five bucks for it.

Would have never guessed that Shawn Green is "only" 39. Seems like he's been out of MLB for a long time.

And I didn't know that Lowell High School's (and Cal's) own Charlie Cutler is playing for Israel. Think I'll start paying attention to that team.

Looks like a nice crowd in Regensburg, considering that Germany isn't playing. Definitely better that Jupiter (which I think even MLB knows was going to be a wash attendance-wise).

GB still is close enough that it could be a game if the Canadians screw up, although I think the Brits will be in trouble once they run out of their passport pitchers like Reed and now Roth.

Cartwright's home run was Stanton-esque.

Canada finally starting to blow it open.

Greg Hendrix's hair and moustache makes it look like Great Britain wanted to find an MLB player to use as a ringer and had to settle for Brian Tallet.

I smell a mercy-rule coming...

Mercy!

For anyone who has mlb.tv or the app on their TV: Are you able to get the WBC games on there?

My TV comes with the mlb.tv app, and the WBC games show up in the games menu, but they always give me an error when I try to watch them. Would prefer to watch the games on my TV if possible.

1st game was a good game for Phillies prospects, Tyson Gillies goes 3-for-5 with a "walk-off triple" in a 11-1 game (and somehow the Canada pitcher gets the save despite winning by 10 runs and Canada having the last at bat), and Albert Cartwright hits a bomb.

France definitely the worst team so far. South Africa should handle them.
   17. Tschingsch Posted: September 20, 2012 at 08:29 PM (#4241645)
France does not look good at all. I'm surprised this game is going 4 innings.

Props to France for hanging in there, but they looked completely overmatched. Not sure why they're in the tournament instead of Sweden, given Sweden is ranked 8 spots higher. I guess MLB thinks France has more growth potential.

Seeing how France was I'm scared to see what New Zealand is going to look like.

At least New Zealand will probably have a few passport guys and such.
