We interrupt this Minor League contest to bring you a real, live snake on the field

[T]he Double-A San Antonio Missions—like all great Minor League clubs, really—are innovators. They weren’t just content to trot some bird or woodland creature out there while locked in a tight game against the Frisco RoughRiders on Friday night. No, they enlisted the help of an enormous and terrifying snake:

I had never thought about it, but now that it's come up, in all seriousness I'm surprised snake problems at sporting events don't happen more often.

Hard to tell what kind of snake that was in TFA, but it was almost certainly harmless.

golf is the one sport where the competitors encounter dangerous animals.

the PGA Tour is just now wrapping up a swing of multiple events where alligators sometimes venture onto the course during play. sometimes there are efforts to shoo them away from being too close to a golf ball, but they aren't exactly frightened by noise. hell, they aren't exactly frightened by anything.

they showed an amusing scene yesterday from The Players Championship in Florida about 20 years ago. a seagull, or similar bird, was walking on the green when a tee shot landed. the bird started batting at the ball with his beak, then tried to get his "mouth" around it. success, and he started flying away - only to lose his grip and see the ball drop into the water hazard before he departed.

I’m more worried about the snake in the WHITE HOUSE. (Donald Trump.) ((Because he’s a Russian spy.) (((He is bad.)))

Huh. I would've expected the thread to go biblical before political.

Ewe're both wrong.

Saw this event at a Bishop "Mule Days" rodeo sometime in the early "Aughts" and it was easily the funnest event of the night.

Best part is, the sheep runs towards a pack at the far end of the arena, if the kid hangs for his life long enough to reach the pack (the goal), the sheep will abruptly stop, inevitably throwing the kid into the pack, where they bounce about off the other sheep.

Anarchy!
