Flip!

The broadcast is showing minor league stats for a number of Rangers hitters. Guess the injuries are responsible for that.

Colon is cruising! Amazing to watch him still strike guys out.

Cincinatti actually asks it's people to stand for God Bless America? What a f-'ed up city.

...

They do in Boston. I think they do in most places.

Though they kind of try to trick you in Fenway, telling you stand and "strrrrretch while Josh Kantor plays 'Take Me Out to the Ballgame', but first..."

Just turned on the game and I was mansplaining to the girlfriend who Bartolo Colon was (emphasizing that he’s the only major leaguer who’s both older and fatter than me) and then we found out he’s been perfect so far.
   208. Dog on the sidewalk Posted: April 15, 2018 at 09:50 PM (#5654336)
Altuve finally put one in play.
   209. Snowboy Posted: April 15, 2018 at 09:52 PM (#5654340)
Massive cheer when Altuve hits... a routine FB to CF. Ends the 7th.
I'm not saying Bartolo will continue this perfect game. But he and Verlander have been magnificent to watch. And this ain't about an ump with a wide strike zone. This is about two guys hitting their spots, and dotting the corners.
   210. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: April 15, 2018 at 09:56 PM (#5654342)
These days, seeing both pitchers reach the 8th inning might be more of a shock than 7 perfect innings.

Funny, I was saying approximately the same thing to my fiancee. I'm 41 and not overweight at all, but I'm not in Ichiro shape, and couldn't be even if I wanted to (Inverse Law of Ichiro).
   212. Tulo's Fishy Mullet (mrams) Posted: April 15, 2018 at 10:01 PM (#5654346)
Nolan Ryan is jealous.
   213. The Yankee Clapper Posted: April 15, 2018 at 10:02 PM (#5654348)
The Fat Guy is only at 83 pitches. Give him a hot dog and let's go.
   214. What did Billy Ripken have against ElRoy Face? Posted: April 15, 2018 at 10:02 PM (#5654349)
Just looked it up. Yep, it's only Colon and Ichiro left who are older than me. Last year I think I still had R.A. Dickey and a couple of anonymous relievers.

Sigh.
   215. Lassus Posted: April 15, 2018 at 10:04 PM (#5654351)
I guess that's my fault. I turned on the TV to watch, and then ball four.
   216. Bourbon Samurai, what price fettucine? Posted: April 15, 2018 at 10:04 PM (#5654352)
This is a pretty good pitchers duel. Pretty, pretty, pretty good
   217. PreservedFish Posted: April 15, 2018 at 10:05 PM (#5654353)
I thought it was my fault. I turned on an illegal stream and saw a stream of f-bombs, RIPs, and "Colon choked"s on the chat box next to the loading icon and porn ads.
   218. What did Billy Ripken have against ElRoy Face? Posted: April 15, 2018 at 10:06 PM (#5654355)
I can only imagine what kind of porn ads you got with "colon choked."
   219. PreservedFish Posted: April 15, 2018 at 10:07 PM (#5654356)
I went to the Mets game. It was 41 degrees and extremely windy. My kids made it through all 9 innings, with relatively little bribery or torture.
   220. Tom Nawrocki Posted: April 15, 2018 at 10:07 PM (#5654357)
Colon now pitching like your basic 44-year-old fat guy.
   221. Lassus Posted: April 15, 2018 at 10:07 PM (#5654358)
Wow. That really WAS my fault. Saw news online, turned the game on, ball four, single, turned the game off.

GOODNIGHT

Ah well. Valiant effort. Now I can root for a long extra-inning game.

RATS

You are a success as a father.

That’s it, then. I’m changing it to Aerial America.

Well done. Did you tell them that the walk-off home run was their reward for good behavior?

EDIT: But you probably shouldn't torture your kids, regardless of how much you want to stay at the game.
   227. Lassus Posted: April 15, 2018 at 10:13 PM (#5654365)

I dunno, what the hell have they done for HIM lately?

He's teaching them to like the Mets. They should get used to torture.
   229. PreservedFish Posted: April 15, 2018 at 10:20 PM (#5654367)
Actually, speaking of torture, as we lined up to enter my daughter was in a totally inadequate knit sweater, no hat, no mittens, because she refuses to put on warm layers just to be defiant, and only acquiesces when she can't handle the cold anymore. So some random stupid fat woman accusingly asked me if I had a warmer layer for her, as if she were ready to call CPS were I to say no.

The only real torture of the day was when we took the kids to a Chinese food court in Flushing for lunch, and didn't buy any foods that the kids liked, so they basically just watched us have lunch. Stupid picky kids don't know what they're missing.
   230. Lassus Posted: April 15, 2018 at 10:26 PM (#5654370)
Stupid picky kids don't know what they're missing.

Well, that was a quick turnaround from #224, worst father in history.
   231. What did Billy Ripken have against ElRoy Face? Posted: April 15, 2018 at 10:33 PM (#5654375)
Wow, Hector Rondon sighting.
   232. PreservedFish Posted: April 15, 2018 at 10:34 PM (#5654376)
Screw that, I'd rather have them watch me eat dumplings sometimes than feed them mac and cheese 7 days a week. It's for their own good.

That is a pretty good list, two easy hofers(Derek/Vlad) Two borderlines(Andruw/Wagner) and a few long term guys...and then you have Colon who is on the borderline with Wagner and Andruw if not slightly above them... acknowledging that Wagner is overrated because of closer overratedness...
