Welcome to the quirky, zany world of the Brothers Giles

San Diego Padres right fielder Brian Giles, in the shower after a morning workout, steps out and screams for his brother.

“Marcus, Marcus, hurry up and get in here,” Brian Giles screams. “Chris is in here.”

Marcus Giles, seven years younger than Brian, yells, “Oh, boy,” strips his clothes and is showering within seconds.

Minutes later, Padres pitcher Chris Young is red-faced and out of the shower, still shaking his head.

“You get nervous when you see those guys come into the shower,” says Young, a Princeton graduate. “Let’s put it this way: You definitely don’t close your eyes in there, even when you’re shampooing.”

Dammit, I submitted the same article!!

There is a bit with Brian Giles and Piazza which I thought was very funny. So was the karaoke story

Upon reading this, Mike Piazza curses the Padres for declining his option.

A year ago, when Brian Giles was in a commercial with Mike Piazza, the scene was never the same after Giles ran out of the bathroom naked and jumped in front of Piazza.

Dear Gay Penthouse...

This story is a riot. Plus, in between episodes of freakish behavior they make some good points:

Besides, how can you separate them now? They will hit back-to-back in the lineup, Padres manager Bud Black says, somewhere in the top three spots. The back of the jerseys will even read the same: "Giles" with no initials, 24 for Brian and 22 for Marcus.

"There's no reason to have initials on the back," Marcus says. "Come on, he's almost 50 pounds heavier, throws from the wrong side and bats funny.

"It's like when I was with the Braves, and Andruw Jones… had A. Jones on his back. Come on dude, if you can't tell the difference between Andruw Jones and Chipper Jones, you got a problem."

They remind me of the McPoyle brothers.

And lest I forget, there is another story about Brian Giles barging naked into Bochy's office while Towers is having a conversation with him. He then proceeds to practise his swing :)

That was fun. I bet they'd be a real fun to root for.

Which brother is the shy boy and which is the coy boy?

Didn't Brian hump Bill Murray on the night of the Sutcliffe incident, or something?

Tim Hardaway does not approve of this article.

I like how the author mentions that Marcus has 3 daughters under four years of age, and uses that as a basis for his ability to be responsible when it is warranted, I guess because he spends time with them here and there. Since the article leaves out this part of the story, I would guess those three girls are not with one woman.

Yep, very responsible.

In 2006, Marcus Giles was challenged to perform while he and Tracy were in a similar situation to this offseason.
Tracy suffers from placenta percreta, which means her pregnancies are risky to both herself and the fetus because the placenta can grow through the uterus and attach to nearby organs. Bleeding may occur in the third trimester, and premature births are often a result.

When Marcus was still trying to establish himself in the big leagues in 2002, he and Tracy lost their first-born child. Daughter Lundyn Mae, born after 24 weeks of pregnancy, lived for 16 days. Their second daughter, Arrington Mae, is 3 1/2 years old and healthy. Daughter Sawyur Rae is 10 months old, but she was born three weeks prematurely and suffered from lung problems. Marcus missed 10 days of spring training last season as he attended to Tracy and Sawyur.

You're guesses leave something to be desired.

My bad. I deeply regret my assumption, and apologize to anyone in the Giles Fan community that I may have offended.

At least this isn't the most egregious assumption Luis Polonia has made about someone else's daughter.

Nothing like a dead baby to kill the buzz from homosexual innuendo, huh?

I'm sure they're wonderful girls and all, but "Lundyn" and "Sawyur"? Geez.

Talk about your bad baby names...
   20. CraigK Posted: March 01, 2007 at 02:30 AM (#2304869)
Not trying to say anything bad, but, you know, it's a lot easier on all parties involved if you just spell it normally.

From the link in #19

I like the name Aynslie for a girl and Beckley for a boy.

karlmagnus, is that you? :-)

Just because someone is childish -- almost pathologically so -- in one context (one where childishness is semi-encouraged) doesn't necessarily mean he carries that childishness to another context where that childishness is unacceptable. Lots of people are able to compartmentalize, and do so fairly easily.

As displayed by your ridiculously infantile posting name. I'm sure you are a mature, upstanding person when you want to be. Sorry, just had to get stuck in there as it was kind of funny you berating on someone when your moniker is hornymanatee.

I don't think I have ever read a baseball article with that many instances of the word 'naked' before.
