White Sox manager says he wasn’t drinking with Miguel Cabrera

The Cabrera has been drinking
not me, not me, not me, not me, not me

White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen says he was not an accomplice to Miguel Cabrera’s long night of drinking at the Townsend Hotel in October.

Guillen said emphatically Monday he “never was” with Cabrera deep into the morning of Oct. 3, which led to police being called to Cabrera’s home in Birmingham, and to Cabrera’s subsequent Breathalyzer test that recorded a 0.26 blood-alcohol level.

“You know what?” Guillen said Monday at baseball’s Winter Meetings. “I wish Miguel was with me, ’cause if he had been with me, none of this (bad stuff) would have happened.”

It had been perceived, and never challenged by Cabrera, that he was drinking with members of the White Sox who regularly stay at the Townsend during their Tigers road trips.

Cabrera and Guillen are Venezuelan countrymen and are known to be collegial.

Please make this thread about (bad stuff). I really enjoyed the one from a month ago that was all about (bad stuff).

I still think Ozzie Guillen would have been the greatest choice by the Twins to throw out the first pitch for game 163.

The thing about drinking with (bad stuff) is that you and (bad stuff) are alone. Everyone is alone. With their (bad stuff). My (bad stuff). Your(bad stuff). All alone.

I still think Ozzie Guillen would have been the greatest choice by the Twins to throw out the first pitch for game 163.

The Twins were counting on a mediocre White Sox team to go into Detroit on the final weekend, and take at least two of three. Even though the games were meaningless for the White Sox, they played all their starters and played to win.

Even if Ozzie Guillen never went out drinking with Miguel Cabrera that night, the Twins still owe him a debt of gratitude.

Ozzie Guillen has never tippled with McHale Cabrera but I do recall that nite that Ozzie Guillen said to me Keefe I have no objections if you take that portly Tiger first baseman out and have one or ten Tom Collinses with him if you know what I mean Al only when we got to the bar Cabrera started in on straight rye and instead of a potent potable I had a Stathead Sampler which is where you drink branch water and you look at a Spread Sheet with the alcoholic content of various drinks listed on it.

When the (bad stuff) hits the fan, Guillen is a guy I'd like to have by my side. He really knows how to cut through all the (bad stuff) and get to the point.

On a related Sox note Mark Buehrle once described his "get it and throw it" philosophy using a more domestic matter: (bad stuff) or get off the pot.

I'll never forget the Jimmy Quall(bad stuff) that broke up Tom Seaver's perfect game.
