Amusingly enough, my 3rd best comp for Jon Garland is Wayne Garland.

--Jon Garland has pitched in a challenging division

True, but aside from Cleveland the hitting in the division is really nothing special. It's the game's best pitching division by & large.

Um, the Tigers scored 887 runs last year- second in the majors and a full half-run a game more than the Indians.

It's been there for a while, dude. I mean, it's not very good, but it exists.

I'm kidding, I'm kidding! How can anyone comment on the feud between 6-4-3 and you without knowing you?

Lemme know if you ever go see Fountains of Wayne or Guster.

I just saw F-O-W a few months ago, but I don't think I wrote about it.

Bah. They're my Band Of The Moment.

Garland's pitched well against Detroit and KC the last few years, but he's only been mediocre against the Twins and not particularly good against Cleveland. Moving west, Texas can hit, Oakland can't, and we'll see which Mariner team shows up. I don't see Garland suffering from a change in divisions.

I haven't commented on this trade yet. The White Sox aren't contending next year and Garland's in the last year of his contract, so it makes perfect sense for them to trade him. But they could have gotten a lot more in this pitching market. They might have been able to get Matt Kemp, or at least actual good prospects from probably half the teams in baseball.

For the Angels, can this mean Weaver in a deal for for Miguel Cabrera? They probably shouldn't do that, but that would make the Angels better for 2008.
