1. Gamingboy Posted: May 27, 2009 at 02:12 AM (#3194943)But my FANTASY TEAM IS SAVED!!! NO MORE PIERZYNSKI!!!!
WII- As in the Video Game console
TERS- as in Ters
"Tears" as in "I have so many tears of joy, since Wieters allowed me to live"
And yes, I know that sentence is complete heresy.
I didn't know Baseball Mogul was so realistic!
363 – Roman Emperor Julian defeats the Sassanid army in the Battle of Ctesiphon, under the walls of the Sassanid capital, but is unable to take the city BECAUSE MATT WIETERS WAS IN THE WAY
1727 – Peter II becomes Tsar of Russia AFTER MATT WIETERS DECLINES THE POSITION.
1864 – Emperor Maximilian of Mexico arrives in Mexico for the first time, AND FINDS THAT MATT WIETERS ALREADY IS EMPEROR THERE.
1886 – Chemist John Pemberton places his first advertisement for Coca-Cola, the ad appearing in the Atlanta Journal. MATT WIETERS SEES THE AD AND DECIDES TO BUY ONE, POPULARIZING THE DRINK FOREVER.
1919 – Einstein's theory of general relativity is tested (later confirmed) by Arthur Eddington's observation of MATT WIETERS HITTING A FASTBALL in Principe and by Andrew Crommelin in Sobral, Ceará, Brazil.
1953 – Sir Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay are the first people to reach the summit of Mount Everest, THEY FIND MATT WIETERS ALREADY THERE.
1988 – U.S. President Ronald Reagan begins his first visit to the Soviet Union as he arrives in Moscow for a superpower summit with Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev AND MATT WIETERS.
1999 – Space Shuttle Discovery completes the first docking with the International Space Station. THEY FIND A MATT WIETERS HOME RUN BALL ALREADY THERE.
No, it gives proper deference to the immense gravitational pull of one Matt Wieters, even while on the bench.
Wieters on the bench has more Win Shares then Adam Eaton on the Field.
BTW, Wieters was 4-4 with a walk tonight. I guess he decided to start preparing for the majors.
You mean he decided to warn the majors about his 5-for-4 game on Friday night?
I'm pretty stoked about Hernandez's debut as well.
Now he's Mauer with SUPERpower.
He was 4-4 tonight and is batting .330/.398/.582 in May.
I assume that they either (a) did the math/research and determined that they are very safe from the Super-2 date or (b) decided that the benefits of calling him up a few weeks early was worth the risk.
Based on how methodical MacPhail can be, I'm guessing it's a.

Ditto, on both counts. Pierzynski, aside from one good week, has been a black hole.
I bet you're wrong. Zaun's performance had pretty much zero effect on Wieters' promotion schedule.
*Resting hands behind head, leans back in chair.
Looks like they know exactly what they're doing and are purposely calling him up as soon as is possible (after clearing the deadline).
That NEVER works.
Yes. Yes you are, Baseball Judas!
If Wieters is the king of baseball, I'm up for some regicide.
Great post, but man you have way too much time on your hands.
At least it now answers the "can anyone hit .400" question...why Wieters of course.
Yes. I don't see why anyone would want to see Wieters fail.
It also answers the question of whether or not we will ever see another 300 game winner - yes.
I'm worse. The opposite of love is not hate.
At this point, I'm simply indifferent.
As was I (on Saturday). Oh well, at least I get to see Kirk Saarloos vs Chris Waters.
Lesson 1: Release Adam Eaton.
Lesson 2: Release Mark Hendrickson
Voila.
Nope. I'm thoroughly sick of him, and I've never even seen him once.
I don't wish him long term suckitude, just a nice two year breaking in period with a 250/320/400 line would be fine.
Walker wears #32, which Wieters wore for his entire college career and most of his professional career.
He's also terrible, and the Orioles need to make a roster move to bring Scott off the DL, but the uniform number angle is more fun.
Hmm. I'll try and make it to the game.
Every player who has become a Super Two in the last three offseasons has debuted in 2004 through 2006. Doesn't it seem like teams have gotten much more savvy with avoiding Super Two status for their stud players in the last few years, meaning that the Super Two designation post-2011 is likely to hit players with less than two years, 130 days service time? Although ...
Berken made his debut tonight, David Hernandez will be up on Thursday, Wieters on Friday,
Throw in the quick ascensions of Reimold and Bergesen, and a cynic might say that the Orioles are trying to flood the 2009 rookie pool with players who debuted before Weiters, thus increasing the amount of service time that will be likely to lead to Super Two designation post-2011.
I guess calling those guys up first couldn't hurt, but it only really helps with Wieters if Bergesen, Berken, Hernandez, and Reimold stay in the majors for good.
Chances are pretty good that some (or all) of them will struggle and spend some more time in the minors over the next couple years.
His number has already been retired by all 30 teams.
I've heard that the Orioles have quite a few good pitching prospects in the low minors. With Wieters, Markakis, Reimold...is it possible they're going to be competitive within the next three years?
is the hype in Baltimore as big as the hype on the web? I know when Wallace gets called up, he'll get a rousing applause but I doubt it will increase attendence in St Louis(although to be fair St Louis attendence is always high)
Winner!
