I doubt that an infield fly rule that late in the ball's flight with the fielders in those positions has been called in the last 40 years of major league baseball.

I suspect that the bail itself was what triggered the umpires call. IE, he won't admit it, but he was over-complacent; Kozma LOOKED like he was going to catch the ball- it surprised everyone when he bailed out. The ump panicked, and made a last-minute gesture to try to protect the braves' baserunners- had the runners been tagging up (ump in that position had no way of knowing), and had Holliday been in position to back up Kozma, and then done the baseball-correct thing post-bail (pick up the ball and throw it to third), it could have been a double play. At worst, it would have been very close. Instead, Holliday wasn't in the right position, and then did the "wtf gesture" and made everything look worse than it was.

Either way, the umpire fail on the strike-out/home run was much more significant, in terms of WPA. Almost double, in favor of the Braves, so there's really no room for the braves fans to complain.

I was thinking I'd have to take a bus back. It appears I can take light rail up to the game but will have to take a bus back.

And yeah, no car.

#933 - You might investigate one of these deals where a sports bar sponsors a bus from their bar to the game and back. You get a ride both ways geared specifically to the game, and booze to boot. Might be worth it.

You may want to look up a hotel room for Sunday night. The light rail will be running postgame, so that expands your range down to the airport and up to Hunt Valley.

You know, I didn't think the Yankees would make the playoffs this season. When they had that big lead, I was shocked. When they started to blow it, I dreaded them finishing second, or even out of the playoffs. But they hung on.

If they lose to the O's... I can live with that.

For those keeping a journal of my movements my plan looks to be that I will take the light rail up to Camden Yards during the day and then after the game I have bought an Amtrak ticket as my first option and if I miss that train I have a megabus ticket for 1:00 am to DC. Amtrak leaves at 10:40 and gets into Union station before the red line closes so if I make it in time I can take the metro home.

Will be there both Sunday and Monday. Have long-time Birds in the Belfry friends driving in from Chicago, Dayton, and Indianapolis. Weather looks bad for Sunday, but it's going to be amazing!

BTW on StubHub the Nats tickets are quite a bit cheaper than the Orioles tickets. Probably the difference in regional demand between the Yanks and the Cardinals.
