I never dreamed I'd ever see a headline that read, "Mets Get Healthier".

Not exactly "Mets' Pitchers' Arms Get Less Fragile" though, is it? I mean of course, if the Mets are catching on to modern sports nutrition practices 20 years after everyone else then great, better late than never, but I'll still assume that there's a greater than 50% chance of the starting pitcher's arm falling off every time he takes the mound.

Hey, if you talk to some people, I'm sure they'd tell you that superfoods and properly balanced gut bacteria will prevent Tommy John.

Perhaps we should wait at least until the season starts before we say that the Mets have gotten healthier?

After consuming chickpea pasta, it's pretty evident the Mets pitchers will be throwing more gas. Just not necessarily from their arms.

So I shouldn't be on the David Ortiz diet?

The Mets have a long history of making a show of solving last year's injury problems this year but seemingly haven't ever been able to balance basic health and wellness with the pushing-the-envelope stuff of modern pro athletes.

This goes all the way back to when their clubhouse guys ran a pharmacy and continued through fiascos like Jose-Reyes-Needs-To-Learn-How-To-Run; Beltran-Will-Be-Back-Any-Day-Now; Ryan-Church-Concussion-Mishandling-Becomes-Wright's-Gazoo-Helmet; "Prevention & Recovery"; Matt Harvey's Pee; Barwis Methods etc etc.

I have a dim memory of the Mets trying to feed Jose Reyes more greasy foods so that he would put on weight, the idea being that he'd be less injury prone?

The Mets just need to eat more bacon.

Homer and I go with doctors' recommendations: eight glasses of gravy a day.

Middle age means looking like David Ortiz, regardless. Unless you want to starve yourself in hopes of living towards 100.
