See y'all at 5am EST! Well deserved victory by Taiwan.
   202. RollingWave Posted: March 02, 2013 at 03:33 AM (#4378990)
win, though for Taiwan the real test is if they can beat the other 2 team, from a roster POV Korea is missing a lot of it's best player too so I think the chances are pretty solid.
   203. Tschingsch Posted: March 02, 2013 at 03:33 AM (#4378991)
Are the morning games going to be in this chatter as well, or will there be a new one for the day?
   204. The Clarence Thomas of BBTF (scott) Posted: March 02, 2013 at 03:34 AM (#4378993)
This is the everything chatter for March 2nd, so the other 2 games will be here.
   205. Morph Posted: March 02, 2013 at 04:46 AM (#4378998)
Will be strumming my guitar and watching the 5 AM game. Wang's delivery looked very fluid. Think the radar gun was off. He was probably throwing 88-90. Could make a decent number four on plenty of teams. Padres should take a look.
   206. The Clarence Thomas of BBTF (scott) Posted: March 02, 2013 at 06:05 AM (#4378999)
This is going to be like watching a #1 seed vs a #16.
   207. Tschingsch Posted: March 02, 2013 at 06:12 AM (#4379000)
On a positive note, I'm sure people felt kinda the same way in 2009 before the Kingdom slayed Goliath.
   208. The Clarence Thomas of BBTF (scott) Posted: March 02, 2013 at 06:18 AM (#4379001)
The Brazilian starter's looked good so far.
   209. The Clarence Thomas of BBTF (scott) Posted: March 02, 2013 at 06:20 AM (#4379002)
Very pacy leadoff hitter.
   210. The Clarence Thomas of BBTF (scott) Posted: March 02, 2013 at 06:23 AM (#4379003)
Brazil is ahead 1-0!
   211. Tschingsch Posted: March 02, 2013 at 06:23 AM (#4379004)
Brazil!!
   212. Juilin Sandar to Conkling Speedwell (Arjun) Posted: March 02, 2013 at 06:25 AM (#4379005)
Man, I've missed baseball.

Tanaka doesn't look very sharp so far.
   213. Tschingsch Posted: March 02, 2013 at 06:26 AM (#4379006)
...but what about Frank Tanaka?
   214. The Clarence Thomas of BBTF (scott) Posted: March 02, 2013 at 06:37 AM (#4379008)
Fernandes has lost it. That's a really bad sign for Brazil.
   215. Tschingsch Posted: March 02, 2013 at 06:41 AM (#4379010)
Whew.
   216. Juilin Sandar to Conkling Speedwell (Arjun) Posted: March 02, 2013 at 06:41 AM (#4379011)
Oh man, I thought that was a home run at first.
   217. The Clarence Thomas of BBTF (scott) Posted: March 02, 2013 at 06:49 AM (#4379012)
Tanaka gets out of a jam.
   218. Gamingboy Posted: March 02, 2013 at 07:06 AM (#4379013)
I'm awake! What'd I miss? What'd I miss!?
   219. Tschingsch Posted: March 02, 2013 at 07:08 AM (#4379014)
Figured you might have been resting up to save your energy for Honkbal madness....
   220. Tschingsch Posted: March 02, 2013 at 07:09 AM (#4379015)
Brazil's lucky to have gotten out of that inning with only one run.
   221. Gamingboy Posted: March 02, 2013 at 07:10 AM (#4379016)
Hang on... I've seen this movie before during the qualifiers, with the Brazilians always getting an out exactly when they needed it.
   222. Gamingboy Posted: March 02, 2013 at 07:17 AM (#4379018)
I can hear the MLB people sweating in NYC. If Brazil wins this game, Japan will have to beat Cuba to advance to round two. Given how bad attendance has been in non-Japan games in past WBCs, a second-round in Tokyo without Japan would be bad for the TV cameras, although perhaps good for baseball in general, since presumably beating Japan would give Brazilian baseball a huge boost.

Still, a looooooooong way to go.
   223. The Clarence Thomas of BBTF (scott) Posted: March 02, 2013 at 07:20 AM (#4379019)
I am so pissed I have to go catch a bus to NYC right now. This game is really exciting.
   224. BourbonSamurai Is a Lazy Nogoodnik Posted: March 02, 2013 at 07:25 AM (#4379020)
I was all upset about the jet lag waking me up at 6 till I remembered sweet delicious baseball is on the tv! Go Japan!
   225. Gamingboy Posted: March 02, 2013 at 07:28 AM (#4379021)
Only one run, man left in scoring position. Again, I feel like I've seen this movie before
   226. Tschingsch Posted: March 02, 2013 at 07:34 AM (#4379024)
It's a shame Yan Gomes isn't playing.
   227. Gamingboy Posted: March 02, 2013 at 07:35 AM (#4379025)
Wily Mo Pena reference!

Oh, and.... (turns on Netherlands-Korea game on computer)
   228. Tschingsch Posted: March 02, 2013 at 07:37 AM (#4379026)
Where are you getting that? The link I have isn't working (and don't mention anything that happens for those of us watching the delayed feed on MLB Network)
   229. Gamingboy Posted: March 02, 2013 at 07:38 AM (#4379027)
If you have Time Warner, Bright House or Direct TV, the games are avilable here: http://web.worldbaseballclassic.com/wbc/2013/live/index.jsp
   230. Gamingboy Posted: March 02, 2013 at 07:40 AM (#4379028)
Brasil!
   231. BourbonSamurai Is a Lazy Nogoodnik Posted: March 02, 2013 at 07:40 AM (#4379029)
Tie game!
   232. Tschingsch Posted: March 02, 2013 at 07:40 AM (#4379030)
ahh, I'm Comcast, so that won't work... I was trying to access the link via the Honkbal site: http://nos.nl/dossier/476728-world-baseball-classic-2013/tab/618/live/

So far, nothing.
   233. BourbonSamurai Is a Lazy Nogoodnik Posted: March 02, 2013 at 07:40 AM (#4379031)
Nice bit of hitting
   234. Tschingsch Posted: March 02, 2013 at 07:41 AM (#4379032)
Brazil!!
   235. Gamingboy Posted: March 02, 2013 at 07:42 AM (#4379033)
The entirety of Japan just had a heart-attack.
   236. Tschingsch Posted: March 02, 2013 at 07:42 AM (#4379034)
Damn.
   237. Gamingboy Posted: March 02, 2013 at 07:45 AM (#4379035)
Simmons, Schoop and Bernadina. That wouldn't be a bad top three for a MLB team...
   238. Gamingboy Posted: March 02, 2013 at 07:54 AM (#4379036)
This game feels so deja vu with the qualifiers.
   239. BourbonSamurai Is a Lazy Nogoodnik Posted: March 02, 2013 at 07:57 AM (#4379037)
Nice bit of hitting
   240. RollingWave Posted: March 02, 2013 at 07:59 AM (#4379038)
it would really really be something if Japan gets burned by Brazil. But looking at it, Japan is kinda entering a awkward period where their biggest stars are either done or close to done, and the new generation haven't quite caught up yet... still, that doesn't mean they should lose to Brazil.

   241. Gamingboy Posted: March 02, 2013 at 08:00 AM (#4379039)
If Japan loses, and especially if they fail to advance, somebody is going to Hara-kiri.

Oh, WHAT A BUNT!
   242. BourbonSamurai Is a Lazy Nogoodnik Posted: March 02, 2013 at 08:00 AM (#4379040)
gorgeous bunt
   243. Juilin Sandar to Conkling Speedwell (Arjun) Posted: March 02, 2013 at 08:00 AM (#4379041)
That was an excellent bunt.
   244. Gamingboy Posted: March 02, 2013 at 08:04 AM (#4379043)
Delayed steal works!
   245. BourbonSamurai Is a Lazy Nogoodnik Posted: March 02, 2013 at 08:05 AM (#4379044)
Nice steal! Brazil is fun to watch. Still rooting for Japan though.
   246. Juilin Sandar to Conkling Speedwell (Arjun) Posted: March 02, 2013 at 08:05 AM (#4379045)
Orlando's had some pretty impressive execution in the past couple of minutes.
   247. Tschingsch Posted: March 02, 2013 at 08:07 AM (#4379046)
YES!!!!
   248. Gamingboy Posted: March 02, 2013 at 08:07 AM (#4379047)
David > Goliath
   249. Juilin Sandar to Conkling Speedwell (Arjun) Posted: March 02, 2013 at 08:09 AM (#4379048)
This is just great baseball from Brazil.
   250. Flynn Posted: March 02, 2013 at 08:14 AM (#4379049)
Is this seriously not available on MLB.TV?
   251. Gamingboy Posted: March 02, 2013 at 08:16 AM (#4379050)
I'm reasonably sure Ichiro is currently swearing at his television.
   252. BourbonSamurai Is a Lazy Nogoodnik Posted: March 02, 2013 at 08:27 AM (#4379051)
Always interesting to see all the japanese in brazil
   253. Gamingboy Posted: March 02, 2013 at 08:27 AM (#4379052)
"Japao" is currently trending in Brazil. Hmmm... wonder why?
   254. Dog on the sidewalk Posted: March 02, 2013 at 08:30 AM (#4379053)
Kazuooo
   255. Gamingboy Posted: March 02, 2013 at 08:32 AM (#4379054)
Ichiro considering flying to Japan right now. He doesn't even need the plane, he'll just need to want to.
   256. Gamingboy Posted: March 02, 2013 at 08:39 AM (#4379055)
6 outs
   257. Gamingboy Posted: March 02, 2013 at 08:47 AM (#4379057)
5 outs but Japan threatening.
   258. Gamingboy Posted: March 02, 2013 at 08:47 AM (#4379058)
And it's tied up, and all of Japan starts to breath again.
   259. Juilin Sandar to Conkling Speedwell (Arjun) Posted: March 02, 2013 at 08:47 AM (#4379059)
TIE GAME
   260. The Clarence Thomas of BBTF (scott) Posted: March 02, 2013 at 08:52 AM (#4379061)
I wish like crazy there was a radio feed I could use.
   261. Gamingboy Posted: March 02, 2013 at 08:56 AM (#4379062)
Abe up with bases loaded.
   262. Gamingboy Posted: March 02, 2013 at 08:57 AM (#4379063)
Japan's got the lead... very lucky there.
   263. BourbonSamurai Is a Lazy Nogoodnik Posted: March 02, 2013 at 08:57 AM (#4379064)
whoa, fell asleep for a bit and japan tied it up. whoops, ahead now. nice play to save a run
   264. RMc's desperate, often sordid world Posted: March 02, 2013 at 08:58 AM (#4379065)
Fun fact: RMc watched Brazil's star Leonardo Reginatto play last summer for the Hudson Valley Renegades.

If Brazil pulls this out, it would be like the US hockey team beating the USSR in 1980...in Russia.
   265. Gamingboy Posted: March 02, 2013 at 08:58 AM (#4379066)
If you come at the Samurai you best not miss.
   266. Flynn Posted: March 02, 2013 at 08:58 AM (#4379067)
Brazil thoroughly shitting the bed now.
   267. RMc's desperate, often sordid world Posted: March 02, 2013 at 09:02 AM (#4379068)
...and that's gonna do it. 5-3 Japan.

Sorry, Brazilians, it's my fault. I never should've starting watching it.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go and destroy the Netherlands' chance of beating Korea.
   268. Gamingboy Posted: March 02, 2013 at 09:03 AM (#4379069)

Fiend!

Never underestimate the power of the Honkbal...
   270. Juilin Sandar to Conkling Speedwell (Arjun) Posted: March 02, 2013 at 09:05 AM (#4379071)
I like the phrase "channeling his inner Marmol".
   271. Tschingsch Posted: March 02, 2013 at 09:09 AM (#4379073)
OK, if you know that the other game is going to be shown on delay on the same network, why are you telling us the score????
   272. Weekly Journalist_ Posted: March 02, 2013 at 09:10 AM (#4379074)
Does Larkin have any connection to Brazil?
   273. Gamingboy Posted: March 02, 2013 at 09:10 AM (#4379075)

Was just thinking the same thing.
   274. Gamingboy Posted: March 02, 2013 at 09:12 AM (#4379076)
Even Reginatto is getting out now. Brazil doomed.
   275. Weekly Journalist_ Posted: March 02, 2013 at 09:14 AM (#4379077)
Is honkball on another channel?
   276. The Clarence Thomas of BBTF (scott) Posted: March 02, 2013 at 09:16 AM (#4379078)
Honkbal is tape delayed. The Dutch are going to have an insane infield in the next two tournaments.
   277. Tschingsch Posted: March 02, 2013 at 09:16 AM (#4379079)
It's available online if you have one of the participating cable companies, or it's going to show right after the Japan/Brazil game, which is in the 9th inning.
   278. Flynn Posted: March 02, 2013 at 09:20 AM (#4379080)
Does Larkin have any connection to Brazil?

He likes big butts and he cannot lie.
   279. Tschingsch Posted: March 02, 2013 at 09:22 AM (#4379081)
Nice play.
   280. Gamingboy Posted: March 02, 2013 at 09:24 AM (#4379082)
Does Larkin have any connection to Brazil?

He's done a lot of a clinics and camps down there, and his daughter (a singer) is a minor celebrity there.
   281. Tschingsch Posted: March 02, 2013 at 09:30 AM (#4379083)
Gotta hand it to Brazil, they made that far more interesting than anyone thought it was going to be. Too bad their pitching couldn't hold up.
   282. Gamingboy Posted: March 02, 2013 at 09:30 AM (#4379084)
Japan is lucky. Very, very lucky. Really, just one or two plays going different and Brazil wins that game.
   283. Tschingsch Posted: March 02, 2013 at 09:31 AM (#4379085)
That means one thing... Honkbal time!!!!
   284. Weekly Journalist_ Posted: March 02, 2013 at 09:34 AM (#4379086)
Now if baseball can do this, when do we get our champions league club tournament. Imagine the Sf Giants vs. The Yomiuri Giants...or the Yankees vs. The Canberra Cavalry.

Geez, WJ, that's a bit of an overreaction.
   296. bunyon Posted: March 02, 2013 at 09:57 AM (#4379100)
Did that Dutch player just signal to the pitcher where he wants it? Awesome.

He hit a rope, too.
