World Series Game 2 OMNICHATTER

Well, after Justin Verlander’s dominating 14-strikeout complete game shutout tonig—- sorry, where did I put it.. oh, here it is: After Pablo Sandoval’s 3-HR performance, the Giants lead 1-0. Can the Tigers tie it back up? Will Madison Bumgarner recover from earlier to make this 2-0? Will we discuss various pop cultural mainstays? Only time will tell…

Detroit Tigers (Fister) @ San Francisco Giants (Bumgarner). 8 PM. FOX.

Gratuitous super-slo-mo on that Blanco check swing, there.

Little thing about this series is both teams have great uniforms.

Nope, that's not his glove.

Was anyone else hoping Jackson catches that just for the 1-8 putout?

First balls hitting bases, now balls hiting the pitcher's head.

Oh man, that replay made me shout out loud when I saw the ball hit Fister's head. That looked awful.

I'm a Giants fan but Fister's on my Strat team. Take it easy on 'em, boys!

Why aren't they at least taking off his hat to look at his skull?

If someone in the clubhouse sees that replay, I think they are taking him out.

That was scary. I had the same thought as McCarver, that it got his glove. The McCarthy thing makes e feel that while its admirable that he's staying in he probably should come out.

When a team gets a hit off the pitcher's noggin, and they make a misfield into an out, you have to think the baseball gods are on their side.

A good sign is that it went straight up in the air, which suggests it was more of a glancing blow.

That list starts with Robinzon Diaz for Jose Bautista, but Fister was traded for Charlie Furbush, Casper Wells, Chance Ruffin, and a minor leaguer named Francisco Martinez.

Is it really so bad? The Fister trade was bad, the Cliff Lee trade to Texas was bad, but they got Cliff Lee for three players who haven't sniffed the majors yet. They traded Pineda before his shoulder exploded (granted, Montero hasn't panned out yet, but it's still early), and they pulled off this highway robbery deal:

Franklin Gutierrez traded as part of a 3-team trade by the Cleveland Indians to the Seattle Mariners. The Seattle Mariners sent Sean Green, J.J. Putz and Jeremy Reed to the New York Mets. The Seattle Mariners sent Luis Valbuena to the Cleveland Indians. The New York Mets sent Mike Carp, Ezequiel Carrera, Endy Chavez, Maikel Cleto, Aaron Heilman and Jason Vargas to the Seattle Mariners. The New York Mets sent Joe Smith to the Cleveland Indians.

Maybe I'm forgetting some of their awful deals, but the Mariners recent problems seems to be a combo of bad free agent signings and players not developing.

I think Fister will be fine. I really meant it's just an odd thing with head injuries. Most are perfectly fine. Every now and then, not. I agree with keeping him in there. At the same time, given the resources, I'd have a team of guys standing by. I seriously doubt they're needed.

Someone could have faced fewer than 27 if they lost a 1-0 (or 2-0 or 2-1) game and only pitched 8 innings.
