Enough resting and traveling! Time for more baseball! Can the Giants take a commanding 3-0 lead, or will Detroit once again find what lurks in the eye of the Tiger?

It's like some sort of hitting virus has worked it's way from Texas to Baltimore to New York to Detroit.

Truth.

With the 1B diving towards the infield, why in the name of the baseball gods would you dive into first as a batter-runner? Just run as fast as your butt will carry you instead of losing speed by diving. Stupid.

The justification (which I personally disagree with, but whatever) is that umpire typicaly make the call by ear (ie: did they hear the ball hit the glove first, or the foot hit the bag), so you dive to try to fool the umpire if you think you're going to be out.

What kills me about the dive is that Blanco doesn't have has arm in full extension. His head is actually in front of his hand. I mean if you're going to dive stretch it out.

I haven't really been watching, but just looking at the run totals, this series has been embarrassing for the Tigers.

As I lay in indescribable pain, I remember thinking, "At least this isn't as bad as watching the freakin' 2012 World Series will be."

Wouldn't be a problem if he had let his muscle memory just put one foot in front of the other running to 1B as usual. I don't buy that "fool the umpire" thing one bit. I have yet to see a guy get called safe by diving into 1B.

If you swap the Tigers runs scored in games one and two this series is tied 1-1. That hardly suggests a team being dominated even if they haven't been hitting.

Actually, looking at the scoresheets, I should turn my ire on Fielder. He is not having a good series with the bat. Cabrera's a bit below par, but he's not failing at every opportunity.

And the output from the #2 slot (Infante twice, now Berry) has been wanting.

Berry by month:

May: .333/.395/.436
June: .293/.389/.402
July: .250/.323/.345
Aug: .176/.237/.265
Sept/Oct: .212/.255/.288

He shouldn't be used as anything but a pinch-runner.

I don't think so. I think the '98 Braves, '99 Mets and '04 Red Sox are the only teams to go past five.
