I wonder how utterly useless Valverde feels now he knows the Tigers can lose important games without him.

I understand the move but the way Timmeh was throwing I'd be glad to see him out of there if I was Detroit.

That was ball 3.

Question: What's the LONGEST a World Series has gone in which one team took a 3-0 lead? Has anybody even forced 6?

Doesn't look that way. Only three teams have even forced a Game 5 (well, a couple more in which the 3-0 lead included a tie).

Wow. The Giants are just playing really well.

Gregor Blanco just deflated everybody.

Romo isn't as sharp as in game 2.

Maybe it's true- left field is the hardest position to play.

Leyland needs a smoke. Bad.

The Kaline mention needs to be checked.

Romo isn't as sharp as in game 2.

That's why Bochy pulled The Timmeh. Give the Tigers fans some false hope, then crush them.
   316. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: October 27, 2012 at 11:28 PM (#4285651)
That camera shot of the Peralta flyout pretty much sums up this series. Apparent possible homer turns out to be ball caught in heel of glove in foul ground.
   317. Baldrick Posted: October 27, 2012 at 11:28 PM (#4285652)
I was SURE when that ball left the bat that it was going out. Whether it would stay fair was another question. I was astonished to see Blanco fly into the screen and make the catch.
   318. Don't want the truth; just wanna see some dingers Posted: October 27, 2012 at 11:31 PM (#4285656)
I'm surprised Blanco didn't grab that one.
   319. Repoz Posted: October 27, 2012 at 11:31 PM (#4285657)
Tigers are turning out to be the biggest sham since Dave Wickersham pitched for Detroit...and he was 6' 3"!

1966 Orioles still unimpressed. Shut them out tomorrow too, you wimps.

Night fellas. Time for bed meow.

Tigers going out with the meekest of whimpers.
   324. deputydrew Posted: October 27, 2012 at 11:33 PM (#4285666)
Verlander still pitching game five? I guess you gotta win more than just game four, but still tough to leave your ace on the bench.
   325. VoodooR Posted: October 27, 2012 at 11:33 PM (#4285667)
Wow that's crazy about the Tigers only getting shut out twice during the regular season, and now twice in two World Series games.
   326. 'Spos Posted: October 27, 2012 at 11:33 PM (#4285669)
...still hoping for more baseball...
   327. Gamingboy Posted: October 27, 2012 at 11:34 PM (#4285670)
So, uh, who'd win in a fight: A Lion or a Tiger?
   328. JJ1986 Posted: October 27, 2012 at 11:34 PM (#4285671)
From a cursory look, 1970 was the last WS when a team up 3-0 didn't sweep.
   329. charityslave is thinking about baseball Posted: October 27, 2012 at 11:35 PM (#4285672)
And for their efforts, the Tigers get to face Matt Cain.

Edited out the stupid.
   330. deputydrew Posted: October 27, 2012 at 11:35 PM (#4285673)
Those logos on the side of their hats are just out of control. I'm ok with something, but that's just way too big.

I'm not going to look at the stats, but on the basis of his Game 1, I'm going to guess that Verlander has the highest postseason ERA of any of the Tiger starters. Obviously, he's the ace, but it's not like Scherzer (or any of the starters) is the big concern. They need runs.

Wow. You are correct, and that ERA is 2.22.
