World Series GAME 3 OMNICHATTER

Enough resting and traveling! Time for more baseball! Can the Giants take a commanding 3-0 lead, or will Detroit once again find what lurks in the eye of the Tiger?

San Francisco Giants (Vogelsong) @ Detroit Tigers (A. Sanchez), 8:00 PM, FOX

It most definitely will be on their. My main worry is that in a few days the Frankenstorm may means I'll have to listen to it on a emergency radio...

The game is in Detroit, not the East Coast. No rain forecast through Monday, at least.

Had no particular rooting interest at the beginning of the series, but I'll be firmly in the Tigers camp for the next three games.

I would love a great 7 game series where the giants win it all in dramatic fashion, but I've got a crazy week next week. So I'm hoping it's over on Sunday. I realize this will mean several more of Vaux's intestines on the floor.... So apologies ahead of time.

Yeah, I'm about an hour and a half north of Detroit and it's one of those beautiful, clear and crisp autumn days that we get about four of every year before it's bitterly cold.

Tiger Stadium was the best park I've ever been to (and I've been to a fair number). I was there for one game in the last ten days or so of it's use and ended up sitting right behind the plate (despite our tickets being in left field). Just wow.

Worst: Exhibition Stadium in Toronto. That was brutal. We sat in the football stands looking straight ahead into the vast expanse beyond the outfield wall.

Edited to say "thanks" to my (now-deceased) father who took a baseball-crazed kid to lots of games at Milwaukee County Stadium and also in Chicago (old Comiskey) and Toronto (Exhibition Stadium) while the wife and daughter did their things on family vacation. Also went well out of the way to make it to Cooperstown as a kid and even made it back for the first game of little league. Didn't even go home first. Drove from Cooperstown to Toronto to little league. Great memories, Dad.

Is that true? Is it harder to throw out base runners with a lefty at the plate? Anyone run the numbers on this? It sounds like the sorta thing that should be true but might not be in reality.
I'm interested in seeing the numbers, but I think it's plausible if the catcher is right handed, and if the pitcher is trying to pitch outside. The throwing motion starts closed, with hands together, a line through the elbows roughly parallel to the direction you want to throw. An outside pitch to a lefty, with a right handed catcher, messes up all of that, opening the arms, forcing improper alignment with the base.

It was a crime against baseball humanity to sell those seats.

I only went there once, and sat quite a ways back about midway between home and first. It was uncomfortable there. I'm surprised people in Toronto ever took to baseball after experiencing that ballpark.

Interesting how Jon Miller announces the end of the inning the same way as he did when he called the World Series for ESPN radio: "You're listening to the 2012 World Series on [KNBR], sponsored by [insert sponsor here]." He doesn't do that on games during the championship season.

Having said that, is there something wrong with Scherzer? He's been awesome since a disaster April but they've lined him up to only pitch once. how do they even keep track who already had a taco ?

The free tacos are things that would otherwise cost about 99¢, right?

Say what you want, but the Doritos taco appears to have been a gigantic success for Taco Bell. There are millions and millions of people that eat really crappy food every day.
