Yeah, I'm about an hour and a half north of Detroit and it's one of those beautiful, clear and crisp autumn days that we get about four of every year before it's bitterly cold.

These shots of the ballpark make me nostalgic for Tiger Stadium.

Tiger Stadium was the best park I've ever been to (and I've been to a fair number). I was there for one game in the last ten days or so of it's use and ended up sitting right behind the plate (despite our tickets being in left field). Just wow.

Worst: Exhibition Stadium in Toronto. That was brutal. We sat in the football stands looking straight ahead into the vast expanse beyond the outfield wall.

Edited to say "thanks" to my (now-deceased) father who took a baseball-crazed kid to lots of games at Milwaukee County Stadium and also in Chicago (old Comiskey) and Toronto (Exhibition Stadium) while the wife and daughter did their things on family vacation. Also went well out of the way to make it to Cooperstown as a kid and even made it back for the first game of little league. Didn't even go home first. Drove from Cooperstown to Toronto to little league. Great memories, Dad.

I'm interested in seeing the numbers, but I think it's plausible if the catcher is right handed, and if the pitcher is trying to pitch outside. The throwing motion starts closed, with hands together, a line through the elbows roughly parallel to the direction you want to throw. An outside pitch to a lefty, with a right handed catcher, messes up all of that, opening the arms, forcing improper alignment with the base.

I only went there once, and sat quite a ways back about midway between home and first. It was uncomfortable there. I'm surprised people in Toronto ever took to baseball after experiencing that ballpark.

As an ex-baseball-catcher, I can safely say all of this is true. The lefty batters are just IN THE WAY. Even throws back to the pitcher are kinda awkward.

Interesting how Jon Miller announces the end of the inning the same way as he did when he called the World Series for ESPN radio: "You're listening to the 2012 World Series on [KNBR], sponsored by [insert sponsor here]." He doesn't do that on games during the championship season.

I've unfortunately had other things on my mind, so other than watching the games with the sound off I don't know too much other than what's happened on the field. Having said that, is there something wrong with Scherzer? He's been awesome since a disaster April but they've lined him up to only pitch once. I know he's had some injuries, but he pitched in the ALCS.

Chris Myers died to me during game three of the 2004 WS when he interviewed "Leon", the Budweiser spokesman during an inning. I mean can't we have t least the pretense of integrity nd the idea that the entire broadcast isn't just a three hour ####### commercial?
