Yahoo: Roberto Duran to Throw Out Ceremonial First Pitch for Diamondbacks

Well…since Dick Stuart is no longer available.

DRL Promotions announced today that former 5-time former World champion Roberto Duran, the legendary ‘Hands of Stone’ will throw out a ceremonial first pitch on June 28th for the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase field.

...Duran played little league baseball and has always had a great passion for the sport. He considers himself a big league fan, flattered for this invitation to participate in the Diamondbacks pre game festivities. “I’ve got a strong arm, the catcher better be ready,” stated Duran.

I thought that was Angel Berroa's nickname.

Word has it he only agreed to appear after receiving assurances that Kevin Maas would not be there.

One of my favorite memories...being 14 years old and going to the Garden to see Kenny Buchanan defend his title against the unknown Roberto Duran...

Go back to the snarks now,

NO MAS NO MAS.

I got a chance to meet Dick Stuart one time. I tossed him a pen so he could sign an autograph, and he accidentally-on-purpose dropped it.

Funny, funny guy.

Thought I'd see if five posts could go by and not see a "no mas" joke. We're a weak, weak bunch.

Having Duran Duran do it would be much cooler.

"No maas, no maas" would have been better.

He has to be better at throwing a baseball than this guy...

He won't throw it as well as Joe Gans or Benny Leonard would have.

This article would have been much more interesting if the author had thrown in a paragraph to tell us what Duran is doing now.
