Is Reineke much of a prospect? He's in the PCL, but Round Rock is one of the best pitcher's parks in that league, and his ERA was 4.41 (though with solid to good peripherals at age 26). I really don't know anything about him.

I agree it's not a brilliant move if Reineke is worth anything. They do seem to believe that it will give them a leg up on signing Wolf for next season if they want him, but I don't really buy that. I think he wants to live in Southern California, if any of the three teams want him, and will give him any offer vaguely comparable to what he's getting elsewhere.

I think the true ineptitude of the Ed Wade year(s?) in Houston will be that he was the only GM who even Pat Gillick was able to swindle in his 3-year Phils tenure. Good grief what a silly move.

I actually met Ed Wade at the All Star Game pre party. I saw him walk by once, then later, convinced it was an MLB GM.

I said, "Hi Dan."

Yep, but that's in spite of all Gillick's veteran acquisitions. Except Lidge (so far).

The Rowand trade with the White Sox was good, since there was no possible way no how that Jim Thome was going to have a place in the Phils lineup and they didn't have much leverage. This is forgotten, given the ensuing deal that sent Gio Gonzalez back to CWS, plus Gavin Floyd, in exchange for one year of a guy whose career had already been ended by injuries.

of COURSE eddie poo has his blankie - he is in AAA - started the year on the ML club but he hit worse then towles and he FINALLY got sent down - for some middle reliever if i remember rightly.

reinecke actually had pitched quite well his last 8 starts, but seeing as how bourn and towles aren't in line for ROY, well, you just can't say this club sux the big fat hairy one and try out some more young guys, now can you?
