Yankees sign Logan Morrison, who once beefed with Gary Sanchez and called their fans ‘stupid’

The New York Yankees have signed veteran first baseman Logan Morrison to a minor-league deal, the team announced on Friday. He will go to extended spring training before he ends up with the Yankees’ Triple-A affiliate Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. Morrison has an opt-out date of July 1 and will make $1 million if he’s added to the major league roster, reports ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

Morrison will have to prove himself before getting the call-up to the big-league lineup, but it’s going to be very interesting if he does end up in the New York clubhouse. When Morrison didn’t get an invite to the 2017 Home Run Derby, he took out his frustration on Gary Sanchez.

“Gary shouldn’t be here,” Morrison said. “Gary’s a great player, but he shouldn’t be in the Home Run Derby. I remember when I had 14 home runs. That was a month and a half ago.”

John Kander and Fred Ebb wrote a great song that explains Mr. Morrison’s change of heart.

I mean, as "beef" goes this is pretty lean meat, but I gotta say that "I remember when I had 14 home runs. That was a month and a half ago.” is a pretty ####### great line. The guy knew he was having his moment, and he made the most of it, and I gotta respect the heck outta that.

Who hasn't Logan Morrison had a beef with? The Marlins FO? Check. Hanley Ramirez? Check. Homosexuals? Of course. Women who breastfeed? Them too.

He's probably got to smooth over previously ruffled feathers everywhere he goes.

That's stolen from Ted Williams. Something along the lines of, some rookie was bragging about hitting 22 HR in Minneapolis last year, and Ted Williams piped in "I hit 22 HR in Minneapolis in 1938," and the rookie beamed, "and then I hit 24 on the road."

Just because they signed him anyway doesn't make him wrong.

Lomo is a pork product, not beef.

Not in Peru.

Lomo Saltado is a beef dish.

And AWESOME ... especially smothered in spicy green aji sauce.

There was a contingent of Mariners fans who loved Morrison, for some reason.

Probably he called them stupid because only about 1% of them knew who the #### Logan Morrison is.

It's super easy to make. Mix up soy sauce, crushed garlic, little corn starch, and - get this - packaged fajita seasoning. Marinate thinly sliced top round in about half the mixture for 30-60 minutes. Cook sliced red onions in hot oil for 5 minutes until translucent, then add the beef, sliced tomatoes, and the rest of the sauce. Cook until the beef is done, maybe 5 more minutes. Serve on top of white rice and top with frozen french fries (prepared according to package instructions). And, yes, spicy chili sauce - though yellow is actually the best choice.

Well, and make it with camarones, rather than lomo ...

He's lucky the Yankees aren't sending him out to their affiliate in the La Leche League...that would be awkward.

I recently decided to make authentic nasi goreng and sought out as many of the actual ingredients as I could find on short notice. Turns out sambal oelek is AWESOME! Now I put that sh|t on everything!

I also learned that ketjap manis can be made by dissolving brown suger in heated low sodium soy sauce, also a big winner. I can't believe I've wasted so much of my life not eating this stuff.

Sambal oelek IS awesome. We don't need sriracha in this house any more. I was introduced to it in a salad dressing recipe I stumbled across a few years back (sambal, peanut butter, lime juice, soy sauce, etc) and, similarly, now it's something we stock in the pantry. It's the BEST on a bland leftover fried rice or chow mein from Chinese takeout.
