YES Network’s Michael Kay Goes to Blows on Twitter with College Student

Meh. No parm, no fowl..

Yankees announcer Michael Kay got into a war of words on Twitter. The flap took place early Monday when Kay tweeted followers for their choice of lead topic on his ESPN/98.7 FM radio show the next afternoon.

He got into the “virtual” shouting match with 21-year-old Joey Hendler.

Hendler shot the first salvo tweeting, “I’ll b listening 2 [Mike] francesa like every1 else.”

“I just happened to be laying in my bed at 1 o’clock in the morning,” Hendler tells FishbowlNY. “…He responded with a quick remark. Then I responded back. [Kay] was delivering heavy blows, and I was firing them back.”

One of the blows that Hendler fired back took their Twitter fight into an online street brawl. Hendler wrote on the social media site: “look at you responding to a random person like that. Just shows your insecurity. Go cry yourself to sleep with your ugly wife.”

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Twitter's one redeeming quality is the occasional ability to get into digital fisticuffs with famous people.

“look at you responding to a random person like that. Just shows your insecurity. Go cry yourself to sleep with your ugly wife.”

I don't know why this is cracking me up. I think it's just 5 minutes until going home time, maybe.

Could he have fit "and her sh!tty chicken parm" under the 140 character limit? If so, I can only give him an A-minus.

Maybe his wife is hot. Do we have evidence on this?

Once the new-car smell of Twitter wore off from me, I only used it to try and get celebrities to "recognize" me.

Despite my thought that the comment about his wife was out of line, I laughed out loud at it anyway. And I had an hour until I was going home.

Actually, she's not bad

“I’m a 21-year-old kid, just being an immature kid on Twitter,” Hendler says. “Who am I? I’m a nobody.”

Yea, I'm sure you won't ever be held accountable for this stupidity.

I moused over it and thought, "Hmm, Michael Kay's wife's name is Madeleine." And then I clicked it.

She actually is quite attractive, especially for someone like Michael Kay to be married to. Real link (I promise). I like the Post's captions.

Okay, you got me. The REAL Madeleine can be found in here.

Oh, right, I remember now, Christina Applegate's sister, the anchorwoman. ("Tits McGee is on vacation.")

Holy crap, I just had an unbidden memory of Mike & the Mad Dog droning on about how horrible a movie Anchorman was. Maybe not a coincidence??

EDIT: Never mind, apparently they're not related.

   23. Gonfalon Bubble Posted: June 07, 2012 at 10:01 PM (#4151321)
There's only one Applegate who's responsible for Michael Kay's continued presence in broadcasting, and he was played by Ray Walston.

Any chance of me finding this funny was destroyed by the random college student saying he would be listening to Francesa instead.
   25. Joe Bivens, Minor Genius Posted: June 08, 2012 at 07:49 AM (#4151445)
What kind of hell gives consumers a choice between Kay and Francesa? The state of radio is bad in Boston, but this?

Kay's going to get worse -- more and more essentially Kayesque -- as the years go by, isn't he?

Kay, after Ivan Nova finished an inning the other day...

"And that's a 1-2-3 inning for Pena."

Wait, what power is vested in Rudy Giuliani that he can still marry people? Is this one of the perks of being TIME Man of the Year?

I'm just hoping that Michael Kay and Kevin Youkilis never stray into each other's gravitational fields. The energy released by that collision surely would destroy the entire solar system.

Yes. Which means You can do it!

His marriage power actually stems from retaining the title of Mayor of 9/11.
