Yoenis Cespedes reveals his new offseason training plan | New York Post

What the heck is the training staff doing?

“I think in the past I have gone into the season where I have spent a lot of time in the gym doing a lot of lifting, so I come in feeling very strong,” Cespedes said through an interpreter before the Mets’ 5-4, 10-inning loss to the Marlins. “But I definitely wasn’t dedicating the time I need to be running, to really give resistance to my muscles.

“So although I was starting out strong, I can tell during the season my muscles weren’t able to keep up, they were probably wearing out, so I figured out that’s definitely where the change needs to be.”

It's pretty shocking that the Mets intend to retain their strength and conditioning coach.

I'd can him solely for letting Syndergaard bulk up.

Wow. Much like election season, it would appear that the "best shape of his life" article cycle has now expanded to include pre-emptive articles even before the offseason.

"But I definitely wasn’t dedicating the time I need to be running, to really give resistance to my muscles."

This sounds exactly as logical and scientific as most any personal trainer's advice.

However, it fails to take into account toxins and the balancing of ions.

Using 140 games as a baseline minimum, below which you have had an injury impacted season, Cespedes has 2 seasons over that and 4 seasons under it, which strikes me as not very helpful to a team who counts on him to be a regular contributer.

However, it fails to take into account toxins and the balancing of ions.

Clearly Cespedes needs more phlogiston in his diet. Or maybe less.

This is the polar opposite of news. Posting Mets Anything still doesn't belong on this site, Furtado.
