Astros - Signed Berkman

Houston Astros - Signed OF Lance Berkman to a 6-year, $85 million contract.

I’m guessing that the Astros are pretty confident that he’s healthy; there doesn’t even appear to be a weak out clause like in Magglio’s contract.  If healthy, this is a Perfectly Acceptable Signing and should ease the pain in Houston as the other Killer B’s bow during the next couple of years.  The ‘Stros really need to start drafting better; they’re still living off of the 90s picks.  I like Chris Burke plenty and all, but you don’t want him to be the best player you’ve drafted in a 5 year period.

No complaints here. Berkman is consistently one of the best outfielders in the league. Good work Astros.

Agreed. Nice deal. They extended a year beyond Mags, but the per/yr rate is lower. He's local and most of all he plays the game the right way.
