Braves - Acquired Moises Hernandez
Atlanta Braves - Acquired P Moises Hernandez from the Baltimore Orioles as compensation for the hiring of Leo Mazzone.
The Orioles do in fact give the Braves compensation for hiring Mazzone, but the compensation is on the level one would expect for 3 offseason weeks of a pitching coach’s services. Names like Nick Markakis had been rumored and I’d suggest that anyone who thought Angelos would give up a top prospect and one of his personal favorite players just to sign Leo Mazzone early should probably check into a methadone clinic. And if they’re clean, maybe it’s time to take up a heroin habit.
I wouldn’t call Hernandez a complete non-prospect as he sports a 95 MPH fastball and control of the non-horrible variety. He’ll probably be converted to relief and may even have a career someday, but more likely than not, Felix’s big brother will play the role Jesus Martinez did a decade ago - a minor league guy that’s related to much richer, more successful people (though Hernandez is named after the stone tablet dude rather than the transubstantiation guy).

He's not young, and losing his right-hand man might lessen his enthusiasm for staying around. Especially if what everyone keeps expecting finally happens, and the string is broken. Will Bobby feel like rebuilding? Or was 2005 the rebuilding season?
