Braves - DFAed Church
Atlanta Braves - Designated OF Ryan Church for assignment.
My best guess? Since the Braves are very annoyed with Rafael Soriano’s thumbs-up to arbitration, they’re cutting corners where possible until they can arrange a trade and shame Soriano into agreeing to leave town. Which really is too bad as Soriano’s an excellent asset to the team.
Church is what he is: a starter corner outfielder who won’t hurt you too badly (he’s solid defensively there) or an excellent 4th outfielder. He could represent a pretty decent bargain for a team that loses out on Holliday or Bay and needs a quick Plan B for a year or two.
