Braves - Released Redman

Atlanta Braves - Released P Mark Native American.

You know your career is going the wrong direction when you wish you were back in the halcyon days of playing for the 2006 Kansas City Royals.  When looking back at 2007, the former Kansas City Royals Affirmative Action All-Star will remember his ingrown toenail as the highlight of his season.

I believe at this point, with Lerew not an option, the Braves plan on just patching the hole as best they can with spare parts (aka Buddy Carlyle) until Lance Cormier is ready to join the team.

It's a good thing I'm not a GM. I thought Mark Redman might be somewhat useful this season. Whoops.

Didn't spring training used to be where you were able to figure out who could still play at a MLB level? Now,it takes (at least the Braves) the first 40 games of the season. I admire their willingness to try some cheap options that might work; I just wish they could figure out what doesn't work a tad sooner (as in before they leave West Palm). I mean, it isn't as if Redman was slightly too poor a player; he was dreadful from pitch 1.

The Braves have a history of using the first third of the season to sort out the bullpen, and sometimes the back end of the rotation as well.

Also, Redman was signed late in spring training, after Hampton got hurt and was out for the season. I think he got two starts or so in ST. So it wasn't surprising that he got off to a rough start. The hope was that he'd round into shape after a few more starts, but instead he got worse as the season went on.

don't worry, according to Sam Hutchinson, Mike Hampton will provide perfectly good pitching this season!

Some were arguing that he was the Braves' equivalent of Oliver Perez.

Is Matt Harrison close?
