Brewers - Acquired Linebrink

Milwaukee Brewers - Acquired P Scott Linebrink from the San Diego Padres for P Will Inman, P Joe Thatcher, and P Steve Garrison.

There’s a lot to worry about with Linebrink’s performance in the long haul because even though his ERA still looks good, his peripheral numbers have all gone the wrong direction this season, and not slightly.  But luckily for the Brewers, the Elias rankings don’t take into account DIPS ERA and Linebrink was the 7th-ranked reliever in the compensation formula last year, which easily makes him a class A free agent.  Which is important as the Brewers did give up a lot for middle reliever with some scary secondary numbers.  Inman’s a solid starting prospect who has performed well elsewhere and despite a disappointing tateriffic run for Huntsville, he’s only 20 and is still striking out batters.  Thatcher’s a big, unheralded southpaw reliever that’s generally made minor leaguers his ##### and Garrison looks like he’ll at least be a good organizational pitcher.
