Brewers - Signed Perkins and Spurling

Milwaukee Brewers - Signed P Vince Perkins and P Chris Spurling to minor-league contracts.

Perkins is definitely worth a flyer.  He’s recovering from Tommy John surgery, but he had enough success in the minors previously that he’s worth taking a chance on.  Spurling actually has a career ERA+ of 103 in 169 MLB innings, so I’m suprised that the Cubs didn’t give him $40 million.

Just to be clear, the Brewers aren't exactly taking a flyer on Perkins, at least not this year. They claimed him off waivers last year, knowing he would need surgery. He sounds like he has great stuff, and I'm anxious to see what he can do.
