Cardinals - Signed Penny
St. Louis Cardinals - Signed P Brad Penny
Penny wasn’t great last year, but he was relatively healthy and had stretches of near-brilliance. One can’t help but wonder just how much Penny wishes he had signed a long-term deal in 2007, but he’s not starving this year and St. Louis is always a nice Halfway House for mid-career pitchers to turn things around. ZiPS is skeptical, but even that projection wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world, like, say, Livan Hernandez.

1. Danny Posted: December 09, 2009 at 04:40 PM (#3407876)Every year, I expect a few to crash and burn, but it really seems like so long as a pitcher's arm is healthy, Dave Duncan knows what to do to make them useful.
Waiting for the pitcher the Cards sign with the comps of Matt Clement, Kip Wells, and Brent Tomko.
