Cards - Activated Rolen
St. Louis Cardinals - Activated 3B Scott Rolen from the 15-day DL; optioned OF Skip Schumaker to Memphis.
No, Dan didn’t forget his blog, but Dan hasn’t had access to internet for more than 5 minutes at a time for 4 or 5 days (long story). Let’s try to get the recent transactions that haven’t been discussed to death and take it from there.
The Cardinals definitely had a dropoff in quality from Scott Rolen at 3rd to Abraham Nunez and Scott Seabol, but St. Louis is the only team in baseball that can really absorb a bunch of injuries and not blink an eyelash. Not that they have incredible depth but simply are a really good team with a nice lead in a division full of mediocrity. Still, it’s nice to have Rolen back. Schumaker was used very sparingly but will get 300-400 career PA somewhere as a 5th outfielder.
To the All-Star Ballot Complain’ Crew: Scott Rolen is a star. I would’ve voted for him even if it were 9 at-bats so far this year and not 109.
