Cubs - Signed Lee

Chicago Cubs - Signed 1B Derrek Lee to a 5-year, $65 million contract.

Nothing to complain about this signing.  While Lee is a year older than the Nerk, he’s a better offensive player, a better defensive player, and would be able to beat Sean Casey in a 40-yard dash.  Lee’s not blocking anyone - the organization clearly has no interest in using Brandon Sing and after the 2005 debacle, they don’t want to be looking forward with Brian Dopirak.  While I don’t believe that Lee’s 2005 is his “true” level of play, he’ll be solid if he can just hit 275/365/500 a year, essentially his career average.

Dan, just curious...why do you say that? I was under the impression that Sing just now started AAA, and that he wasn't ready for the big leagues.
