Dodgers - DLed Odalis

Los Angeles Dodgers - Placed P Odalis Perez on the 15-day DL; recalled P Buddy Carlyle.

You have to wonder how long the Dodgers are going to survive despite how poorly their pitching staff has been lately.  Getting Erickson off the team needs to be a priority (I still can’t figure out how the hell he got on the team in the first place) and the Dodgers need to decide who they are willing to part with in order to obtain another pitcher.  It might have to be a lot as it’s early - can they cobble together enough pitchers to survive until the end of July?  The only team out of it now that has pitchers they would want is Houston but acquiring Clemens has to be no more than a pipe dream at this time.

Not that I follow the Dodgers that closely, but I was under the impression they were flush with prospects, including pitching prospects. But I see that Edwin Jackson is scuffling at AAA and the rest of the 51s staff does not appear to have any immediate help.

Maybe now would be a good time to convert Gagne back to starting since Brazoban is ready to "close".

Erickson = Mr. March, at least this year.

Fernando Valenzuela is still pitching somewhere

Great. Here's my fantasy pitching rotation now:

Johan Santana: Pitching like something's wrong.
Odalis: Injured.
El Duque: Injured.
John Patterson: Missed his last start.
Zack Greinke: On suicide watch.
Rich Harden: Injured.
Mark Buehrle: Please, please don't get injured.

I also have Mota as one of my closers.

The Dodgers have alot or prospects..probably top 5 systems in the minors. I just think he was saying at this point of the season what they would have to give up to get a starter would be signigicant. While the pitcher they got in trade might not contribute all that much either.

They can probably get Pettitte. :-)

John Patterson was also put on the DL.

Just to make this thread a real thread, I'd try pawning off Russ Ortiz to the Dodgers, but I think the only way they'd take him is if DePo has 16 really hungry boars that haven't been fed for a few months, and AZ is willing to deliver Ortiz in black trash bags.

"Johan Santana: Pitching like something's wrong."

Ok, so the ERA's a bit high at 3.82 but Jesus. The man has 83K and 8BB in 68.1 innings. If that's when something's "wrong" I dont want him to ever be right.

How about Edwin Jackson, Joel Hanrahan, Greg Miller, Chuck Tiffany, Scott Erickson, James Loney, Delwyn Young and Antonio Perez for Morgan Ensberg, Andy Pettite, Roger Clemens, and cash. Of course, the Dodgers should have traded Jackson, Miller, and Hanrahan two years ago when they were considered to be the future of the Dodger's rotation in '05 or '06. Now they look like three busted prospects, same with Loney.

Jackson seems to keep alternating one good game, then one bad game in AAA. At least he's consistent about it.
