Mets - Signed Cordero
New York Mets - Signed P Chad Cordero to a minor-league contract.
Sadly, medical science for treating labrum tears doesn’t seem to have the same success rate as treating elbow tears. While Cordero never really had an impressive fastball as closers tend to, his slider still isn’t what it was and without the slider, Cordero’s not going to get major league hitters out. It’s probably too soon to write him off completely (he was acceptable for Tacoma this season), but he needs to be in the minors for awhile.

• The Mets seem focused on relievers at the moment and have talked about Kelly Downs of Toronto.
I'd have to think it wouldn't take much to get Kelly Downs at this point.
I wasn't aware of this nickname. Though with the hair I certainly understand it.
Hence the joke in #4.
This is funny, because when I saw "Cordero" in the headline, I thought "Wil."
Hey, it's the Mets--it's not like Wil Cordero would've been any more implausible a couple years ago than Fernando Tatis...
