Mets - Acquired El Duque

New York Mets - Acquired P Orlando Hernandez from the Arizona Diamondbacks for P Jorge Julio.

The Diamondbacks are happy with Juan Cruz in the rotation for the time being, though he’s not going to ever be a guy who can give them 7 innings a start.  The 7.06 ERA in 5 starts is pretty ugly so far, but his peripherals are still good and that ERA is a result of one truly horrible outing against the Padres recently (Got 2 outs, allowed 9 runs).  Otherwise, this is just a swap of disappointments.  The Mets were hoping that Julio would give them some league-average innings in the 7th and kinda lost interested in him after a fairly ugly April.  He’s been better lately, but considering the Mets had Jose Lima as Plan B in the rotation, they really can use a starter.  Is that starter El Duque?  Probably not, but flyballs will die in Shea and he’ll be passable if healthy, I think.
