Mets - Acquired Nixon

New York Mets - Acquired OF Trottington Nixon from the Arizona Diamondbacks for future considerations.

Nixon was terrible for the Indians last year but he was hitting quite well for Tucson and the Mets are desperate.  Desperate probably doesn’t even cover it, desperate was back when Endy Chavez decided this was a good season to not hit.  I don’t know the exact word to describe the Mets situation, but considering that they were already on Fernando Tatis, they’re about two steps from frantically calling Danny Heep’s agent.

As bad as Nixon was in 2007, he really was a fine hitter at one point and if he’s actually fully healthy, this could turn out nicely for the Minaya and Randolph in their frantic attempts to keep their jobs.  I don’t have the full-on ZiPS Supercomputer handy at the moment, but I have Nixon at 253/349/379 for the rest of the year, which the Mets will take.

Wait a minute... nothing about Buzzie's Other Idiot Son getting fired?

Wait, his real name is "Trottington?!" You're telling me that "Trot" is not an obscure nickname, but just a shortening of his real name? You really expect me to believe that, Szym?

*checks*

Okay, I'm an idiot. I appreciate the humor though. And his middle name is "Trotman" which is moderately cool.

I was so proud of myself for figuring out how to make the strikethrough that I forgot to make the sentence grammatical. And now I can't edit. My snark, it has backfired.

If it makes you feel better, I could use my Oracular authority to declare "this could turn out nicely for the Minaya in frantic attempts to keep jobs" to be a perfectly cromulent sentence.

In a show of solidarity, will post with dropped pronouns just like did. think every one of should do the same. Don't ?

With a header "Mets-Acquired Nixon", I was hoping for a picture of Tricky Dick or at least Otis bunting to make the last out of the 92 series. Trot is such a letdown.

I was surprised yesterday to see that Richie Sexson's real name is "Richmond Lockwood Sexson". I had no idea he was a fop. His early peak and sharp decline should have been predictable.

Is it bad to admit that when I read the headline in the sidebar, I immediately assumed we were talking about Otis?

I once owned a "NIX ON NIXON" pin button. Now that Trottington is on the Metropolitans I may have to look for it.

No matter how many times I pull that trick with a nickname, I always get someone. I got 2 e-mails the time I insisted that the J in J.D. Drew stood for Jeroboam.

Well, when Richie Sexson gets released, make sure to list as

Seattle Mariners - Optioned 1B Richmond Lockwood Sexson to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.

Because he's not getting a minimum contract?
