Mets - Recalled Diaz

New York Mets - Designated OF Eric Valent for assignment; recalled OF Victor Diaz.

The Mets sent Diaz to the minors a week and a half ago with Cameron’s return, but with Beltran’s quad being hurt, they still had Diaz in the minors - Valent’s a handy 4th outfielder, but if you’re trying to compete now, it’s kind of hard to keep one of your 3 best healthy outfielders in the minors because you’re worried about losing an inferior role player.  Now, I would have simply pulled the plug on Ishii instead, but losing a 28-year-old OKish 4th outfielder isn’t the end of the world.  Even if one disagrees with me that mediocre starters are fairly fungible, I think not too many would disagree that mediocre bench players are.

I'm shocked that there were no comments in this thread, after all the ######## Mets fans did about Valent staying on the team at Diaz's expense.
