Nationals - Signed Tucker

Washington Nationals - Signed OF Michael Tucker to a 1-year contract worth $800,000.

The $800,000 is non-guaranteed, so the Nationals can still get out of it.  Problem is that Jim Bowden would make the decision that Tucker’s inadequate and I’ve yet to see Bowden aggressively release either a current or formerly tools fool.  Tucker was terrible in ‘05 and is about done - he won’t be more than the 5th outfielder in Washington.  Going to RFK won’t make his decline phase look any gentler.

2006 ZiPS Projection - Michael Tucker
372 41   80 16 3   8 40 47 85   5 .215 .304 .339

Good God. 215/304/339? I thought Bodes was supposed to be good at finding useful guys in the trash bin.

Do the Royals get another first round pick? Sabean says they can have SF's.

Tucker had that 30-something walk rate spike in 2004. Look out below!
