Nats - Signed Ortiz

Washington Nationals - Signed P Ramon Ortiz to a 1-year contract worth $2.5 million.

While he’s no longer handicapped by playing in a home run park with a comically bad outfield defense, Ortiz remains handicapped by the fact that he’s not really a very good pitcher.  Ortiz will be the 5th starter for the Nats in ‘06 and while I think he’ll beat the projection, he won’t be all that valuable.

In RFK?? That is an insanely bad projection for Ortiz.

Ortiz is an insanely poor pitcher.

I think Ortiz can keep his ERA south of 4.50 in RFK, assuming he gets a normal distribution of home/road games. He does suck though.
