Nats - Sold Carroll
Washington Nationals - Sold the contract of IF Jamey Carroll to the Colorado Rockies; lost P Darrell Rasner on waivers to the New York Yankees.
The Nationals have a million utility infielders on the 40-man roster and won’t miss Carroll. Carroll won’t bring too much to the Rockies - he’s no more valuable than minor-league invitee Bo Hart and I’d probably play Jason Smith over Carroll considering Smith could very well hack his way to a .450-.500 slugging percentage at Coors, giving him some trade value.
Rasner’s no big loss, an OK groundball pitching prospect, but not one the Nationals had to lose. When you have Bernie Castro and Tyrell Godwin on your 40-man roster, there’s no mid-20s pitcher bad enough to remove from the roster. Hmm, maybe that’s what the Reds meant as a “return to glory” when they inked Krivsky - a return to the glory days of…Jim Bowden.
