Orioles - Signed Desi, Halama, Brower

Baltimore Orioles - Signed IF Desi Relaford, IF Luis Lopez, P Ryan Jensen, P Vic Darensbourg, P John Halama, and P Jim Brower to minor-league contracts.

“Quick,” said the Peter, “sign everybody who’s left whose phone hasn’t been disconnected.”

I hope all of these players enjoy Ottawa, because that’s where they’re headed. One of the pitchers might squeeze out the last bullpen spot by beating out Aaron Rakers or someone who has a bad spring, but there’s not a lot of value here. Halama’s probably the best of the lot as long as the Orioles don’t think he’s an emergency starter

Which Luis Lopez is that?

Same old one. He's back.

Thus making Dan Werr the most vociferous Oriole fan in his hometown.

Incidentally, Dan, I think what you wrote is off. It's not a question of one of these pitchers "might" making the bullpen; I think one will.

Indeed, unless I'm forgetting someone, Halama is pretty much guaranteed a spot as a LHP. Brower might also make it.

I'm surprised the Mets didn't take a flyer on Halama, they need lefties.

Halama must be annoyed that Glendon Rusch gets a multi-year deal and he's relegated to a NRI.
