Time to push the rest of the lineup forward instead fill the 2-hole with a rally-killer. Although I'd be okay with slotting Greene there once he finds his stroke again.
Nice English this morning. D'oh!
Jackson and Blum have a combined 81 OPS+ for their careers. This could get ugly.
Two to three months is a pretty speedy recovery for a guy with no thumb.
My first thought, too, Robert. In Loretta's defense, I later learned that he was trying to avoid the tag on a 3-1 putout. Which is defensible, and less wussy than giving the pitcher a forearm chop.
If the Padres were really interested in giving Furmaniak a shot, they never would've signed Blum in the first place.
Gee, that Gautreau-for-Corey-Smith deal looks grrrreat now, doesn't it? The Goat is hitting 283/329/545 at AAA Buffalo.
Probably not.
The Phillies are obvious; it also seems to me the Padres and Cubs might be trade-compatible. Walker hit .216 in the rehab at Iowa and I heard whispers he might not be ready, but he is back. Seems unlikely the Padres would give up Linebrink, Otsuka or Hammonds for him, though. Still, if I were Hendry I would least want to talk to Towers.
