Padres - Signed Pistachio

San Diego Padres - Signed P Pedro Astacio to a minor-league contract.

While Astacio probably can’t do too much worse than either Tim Redding or Darrell May have this year in the rotation, Tim Stauffer is almost probably a better pitcher at this point despite being hit hard lately.  That being said, Astacio may not be the worst option around - he gets killed with the gopher ball and he won’t find many better places to play than Petco.  Of course, I said the same thing about Darrell May over the winter and he still has managed to allow 10 homers in 60 innings.  If Astacio can’t succeed in San Diego, he’s done.
