Phillies - Signed Eaton

Philadelphia Phillies - Signed P Adam Eaton to a 3-year, $24 million contract.

What’s worse?  Acquiring Adam Eaton because you got him confused with Jake Peavy or signing Adam Eaton when you know he’s Adam Eaton?

If I sign a mediocre starting pitcher, I at least want him to eat some innings.  Eaton’s averaged 125 innings since his major league debut and has never thrown 200 innings.  What’s the point of overpaying for a mediocre starter if I’m going to have to replace him for 2 months?

I’d like this signing if Eaton were good for 180 innings a year.  Pass.

I'm no fancy big city General Manager like Pat Gillick, but isn't 1/8 for Randy Wolf better than 3/24 for Adam Eaton?

For some reason, I've always thought Adam Eaton was better than his stats suggest. I guess I have something in common with the Philly FO!

I always thought that he was better than his stats also... and I saw him pitch a lot in SD.

On the other hand, Eaton, if healthy is an adequate big starter. He is entering the period when lanky guys find their groove. He doesn't have a lot of wear and tear on his arm. This could be a very cagy move by the ole perfesser, er ole fart, er Gillick.

Wow, Pat Gillick reads Primer!

So if there is plate of food in front of a player's locker, and the board on top says Eaton, and Ryan Howard passes by...
