Rays - Acquired Shoppach

Tampa Bay Rays - Acquired C Kelly Shoppach from the Cleveland Indians for a player to be named.

Good pickup.  Shoppach’s 2009 was a big dropoff from his 2008 season, but a bad Shoppach season is a lot better than a bad Dioner Navarro season.  This pretty much seals Navarro’s fate as the team has absolutely no reason left to tender him a contract for 2010.  Shoppach will be serviceable and even if he doesn’t bounce back, he represents a pretty large improvement from what the Rays got from behind the plate this year.
