Red Sox - Acquired Myers

Boston Red Sox - Acquire P Mike Myers from the St. Louis Cardinals for P Kevin Ool and OF Carlos de la Cruz.

It would be surprising if either of these minor leaguers are anything other than organizational players or even get a cup of coffee in the majors.  The Cards aren’t getting much of value.  Nor should they, I just don’t feel that Myers is really all that good.  He’ll be pure LOOGY in Boston, which minimizes any damage, but he’s not pure death against lefties like the best of his type and Myers is simply horrific against righties.  LOOGY or not, Myers is going to face a good number of righties and he makes the average righty into a superstar slugger.  I really rather have Dinardo or Malaska than Myers at this point.

Dan, while you'd rather have DiNardo or Malaska instead of Kim, and I'd rather have Malaska, it's clear from last season that Francona would not. Tito lost confidence in both of the younger guys last year and didn't see Malaska as a LOOGY.

DiNardo's going to be a starter in Pawtucket this year so I don't think he was ever an option.

If the choice is Myers or Kim, I'll take Myers. At least there's SOMETHING he can do well.

Kim hits lefthanded batters pretty well. So that's something.

The Braves just waived Gabe White. If he lasts until Boston picks, they should nab him and dump Myers' worthless ### if they feel they need a second LOOGY.

Good one, Smitty.

Myers is a gas can. I still have nightmares from his performances in Arizona. My least favorite player. <<shudder>>

Yeah... and if you only do one thing, you better do it damn well.
