Reds - Signed T.I.M.O.

Cincinnati Reds - Signed OF Timo Perez to a minor-league contract.

Dreams are funny things.

If I inherited or won, say, $200 million, I wouldn’t leap for joy, and say, “Finally!  I can afford to get Scarecrow and Mrs. King Season 1 DVDs!”

If I was told I won a contest and could have my choice of any car I wanted, I wouldn’t exclaim “Sweet!  There’s a 1984 Mercury Topaz with my name on it!”

And if I won one of my dream jobs as baseball general manager, the first I wouldn’t do is shout “Hurray!  Now I can sign Timo Perez!”

But one man’s dream is another man’s nightmare.

Timo was given the nickname T.I.M.O., standing for “This Idiot Makes Outs.”  I think that describes him quite nicely.

On a side note, when I saw “Reds Hire Krivsky” out of the corner of my eye when it first happened, I got all excited because I thought the Reds had hired RICK KRIVDA~! as the GM.

My fellow South Siders, our long regional nightmare is over.

Hard to figure out how this guy finds work.

har-har, laugh it up, Sox fans. Your gain is my pain.

Not exactly a promising start for the new GM. At least it's a minor-league contract.

Timo and Womack on the same team?! Hehehe.

Please, Dan. There's enough GMs younger than me to make me feels like m y life is a failure already.

Both T.I.M.O. and Quin Snyder are somebody else's problems now. What a great day.

I guess Dunn is now expendable.

Wow. So now we judge GMs by who they give minor league contracts to?

This is a nothig signing. Barring 3 or 4 injuries, there's no place for him on the MLB or AAA teams.

I don't know, proven vets like Timo have a way of squeezing on to the 40-man -- or even the Major League squad -- from a minor league contract.

If they cut him, great. The problem is that now he has some chance of making the team, even if it is small. I'd prefer he didn't even have that chance.

Timo is tri-lingual - maybe the Reds are interested in breaking into the Japanese market.

I guess a Chi. Sox repeat is out of the question now.

Ughhh. When you get hired as a GM this late in the game, deals like these to be expected. At least this is not guaranteed money like Daniels and the Wasdin deal, or Gillick and Alex Gonzalez. I guess Perez's odds of squeezing onto the 40 man roster depend on how much Krivsky was involved in signing Batista.

I wonder if Fox will ever update " The Travels of Timo" map.

As a Yankee fan, I will always have a soft spot in my heart for the baserunning styings of Timo Perez

I have a Rick Krivda baseball card where he is biting a bat.

As a Met fan, the baserunning stylings were the cherry on the hatred sundae. I know Phillips was enamored with the stiff, but what's up with the Sox and Reds? Timo is the Kaz Matsui of the OF. He does nothing well, nothing even big league caliber.
